Virginia Patton

Virginia Cornelia Patton Mrs. Virginia Cornelia Patton age 103, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 3, 2010, from Grace Healthcare in Abingdon, Va. She was born in Chilhowie, Va., on December 13, 1906. She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. Theodore and Mrs. Mamie Franklin; her beloved husband, Mr. William (Fox) Patton Sr.; and her sister, Mrs. Katie Mc Farland. Cornelia was a very special and humble lady who loved her family, Bristol Tennessee, riding the bus, and working in the community with such organizations as The March of Dimes, Church Women United and others. Most of all however, she loved her Church work in Lee Street Baptist Church where she was a member for many years. She served in several capacities such as the Ladies Usher Board, Nannie H. Burroughs, Womens Missionary, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shaffer Memorial Baptist Association. She loved her friends and neighbors on McDowell Street and her special neighbor Mrs. Thelma Henderson. She worked as a housekeeper for various families throughout the Bristol Community and was loved by many. Survivors include her son, Mr. William (Fox) Patton Jr. of Johnson City, Tenn.; granddaughter, Tammy Patton Bristol, Tennessee; grandson, Darien Patton, Bristol, Tennessee; great granddaughter, Jessica Patton-Parks of Johnson City, Tenn.; great grandson, Darien William Rogers, Virginia Beach, Va.. Three great-great grandchildren and special nieces, Elizabeth Francine Ivery, Abingdon, Va., Florence Elaine Jones, Phoenix, Az., Sue Downer of Bloomfield Ct., Shonda McFarland of Los Angeles, Calif.; and other special nieces, relatives and friends. Funeral service for Mrs. Patton will be conducted from Lee Street Baptist Church on Monday, June 7, 2010, at 3 p.m. with Dr. W.A. Johnson, Officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. till the hour of service. The Interment will follow at High Point Cemetery, Abingdon, Va. Mrs. Patton and family are in the care of R.A.
