Virginia Wood Kiser TAZEWELL, Va. Virginia Wood Kiser, age 93, of Thompson Valley, passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Heritage Hall in Tazewell. Born Aug. 25, 1917 in Tazewell Co., Va., she was a daughter of the late Tom G. and Hattie Wiles Wood. She was a charter member of the Thompson Valley Church of God. Virginia was a homemaker who loved her family and extended family. Before illnesses and entering the nursing home, she and her husband, Brady loved to serve the Lord, working in and for their church, and to do for others before themselves. They loved to visit in their community and did so many times, bearing gifts of home cooked items or baked goods. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Brady Kiser; four children, Elmer L. Kiser and his wife, Mildred, Betty Lawrence Hall, Roland Thomas (the Rev. Tommy) Kiser, and Howard Titus Kiser; one grandchild, Bradley Karl Kiser; one great-grandson, Anthony Carter; five brothers, John Wood, Archie Wood, Robert Wood, Tom Wood, and Jeff Wood; and one sister, Lucy Lambert. She is survived by four children, Mary Dussault of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Stephen Kiser and wife, Libby, of Tazewell, Va., Eula Earls and husband, Rex, of Bishop, Va., and Barbara Smeltzer and husband, Joseph, of Tazewell; three daughters-in-law, Billie Jean Artis and Martha Coleman, both of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Donna Kiser of Tazewell; son-in-law, Alvin Hall of Clarksville, Tenn.; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Clinton Wood and his wife, Helen, of Bluefield, Va.; four sisters, Peggy Sanders of Heritage Hall in Tazewell, Grace Harold of North Tazewell, Va., Catherine Jackson of Wardell, Va., Margaret Watson and husband, Sadie, of North Tazewell; one sister in law, Bonnie Wood of Wilmington, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A private service will be held for the Kiser family and interment will be at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield. In lieu of flowers, Virginia requested memorial contributions be made to the Thompson Valley Church of God, 200 Talon Road, Tazewell, VA 24651, or to a favorite charity.
