Wilbert Andrew Buckingham Jr. CHILHOWIE, Va. Wilbert Andrew Buckingham Jr., age 61, passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at his home. Mr. Buckingham was born in Maryland to the late Wilbert Andrew Buckingham Sr. and Vera Harris Buckingham, and was preceded in death by a son, Corey Buckingham. He retired from the U.S. Army having served 30 years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He moved to Smyth County in 1997 and attended the Chilhowie Christian Church. He was president of the Car Nuts Club. Survivors include: his wife of 28 years, Gloria Johnson Buckingham; children, Vicki Lynn Buckingham King, Bel Air, Md., Wilbert Andrew Buckingham III, Westminster, Md., Christopher Michael Buckingham, Chilhowie, Md.; grandchildren, Matthew King, Lindsay King, Wyatt Buckingham, Sarah Buckingham, Jesse Buckingham, Brooke Buckingham; a host of extended family members also survive. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with Rev. Frank Branson and Rev. Larry Hamm officiating. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at the Holly Hills Cemetery in Middle River, Md., with full military honors being rendered. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
