William Henry Austin Mr. William Henry Austin, age 79, of the Grissom Creek section of Buchanan County, Va., passed away Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at his home. Born March 1, 1931, in Buchanan County, Va., he was a son of the late Roland Thomas and Ida Belle Helton Austin. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of Venia Chapel Freewill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for 28 years. He was a disabled coal miner, having been employed at Clinchfield Coal Company for 25 years and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Rita Gay Honaker; two brothers, Garland Austin and Curt Austin. In his generation, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lucille James Austin; four daughters, Kathy Honaker and husband, Jimmy of Honaker, Cheryl Cook and husband, Junior of Venia, Carol Ann McGlothlin of Rowe and Henrietta Ray and husband, David of Vansant; one son, Thomas Henry Austin and wife, Camillia of Rosedale; two sisters-in-law, Draper Austin and Dollie Austin; one son-in-law, Benny Honaker; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson and Rev. Wendell Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Austin Cemetery at Grissom Creek, Va. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lee Honaker, Austin Honaker, Isaac Austin, Cameron Austin, Dylan Cook, Chelsea McGlothlin, Sheena McGlohtlin, Dana Jarvis, Darrell James and Michael James. Honorary pallbearers will be Men of Venia Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, Gary Austin, Gregory Austin, Elaine Tiller and Bobby Jack Ball. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Saturday. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.honakerfuneralhome.net

Ann and Chelsea, I was so sorry to hear of your father and grandfather's passing; I know it's a difficult time for you, because I've lost my husband, someone very dear to me.
