MARJORIE MILLS Obituary

November 13, 1929 - March 25, 2011

Mueller's Chapel of the Falls

Marjorie Jean Mills, 81, was called home to be with the Lord while surrounded by all her family on March 25, 2011, following complications from ovarian cancer. A loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and special friend to many, Marjorie lived 72 years in the Kennewick-Finley area. Marjorie was born on November 13, 1929, in Portis, Kansas, the youngest child of Roy and Lottie Garner. The Garners moved to Kennewick, WA, in 1939, where she graduated from Kennewick High School in 1947. Following graduation, she left home to attend Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, ID. Marjorie returned home to marry Maylan Mills and together they started their family orchard business in the Hover area while Marjorie worked at Benton County PUD, retiring in 1985.

Marjorie was active in the Kennewick Nazarene Church all of her life. Marjorie also maintained many long and close relationships with community organizations including being active in the Kennewick High School Reunion Committee, Merchant Marine Seaman's Auxiliary, and her TWIG women's investment club. Marjorie loved her family and all people who crossed her path and was always an encouragement to others. She will forever be remembered for her Godly spirit, her loving kindness and her hospitality to friends and family.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lottie Garner; and brothers, Don and Kenneth. She is survived by her husband Maylan Mills, of 61 years, of Finley, WA; daughters, Kathryn Roth (Tim) of Ridgefield, WA; and Christine O'Malley (Gary) of Snohomish, WA; son, Gene Mills of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Doris Azeltine of Kennewick, WA; five grandchildren, Kristina (Dan) Benedick, Sydney (Chad) Stoltzfus, Preston, Kaylan, and Hannah O'Malley; and three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jael, and Anna Benedick.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2011, from 5-8 p.m., at Mueller's Chapel of the Falls, 314 W. First Avenue in Kennewick.

Graveside services will be held at Riverview Heights Cemetery on 10th and Olympia in Kennewick on Friday, April 1, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Marjorie's life to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2402 S. Union St. in Kennewick.

Memorials can be made to Gideon's International at www.gideons. org, whom Marjorie and Maylan were longtime members and supporters.

I sorry to hear the lost of Marjorie. Was very shocked when I read it in the paper. My heart goes out to all of you. For I'll never forget her smile, and laugh. My prayers are with each of you during this time. Sorry I can't make the service, but I'll be praying for you. She is now on a vacation that we are all waiting for someday.

I am so saddened by your loss of Margie. I only worked at the PUD for a few years before she retired but it didn't take long to recognize what a truly nice person she was. Take care of each other during this hurtful time. Sincerely,

Olive scovell

We were saddened by Marjories death,
but know she is with the Lord. We loved
her dearly as we have been friends since
she arrived from Kansas and a more loyal
friend we have never had. We had many
good times together. and Maylan I can't
remember the first time I saw you, I must
have been around 2. You both were in our
wedding. We love and appreciate you Maylan
knowing you both love the Lord. We feel
for the whole family and the loss they
are suffering. We love you.
