Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home
Evan G. Purser passed away suddenly on Feb. 14, 2011, of massive heart failure at Kennewick General Hospital. He was 77 years old.
Evan will always be remembered as a wonderful, loving, compassionate, caring, selfless individual. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He had a warm heart, bright smile, and kind words for anyone he met. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family and sharing with the people around him. He loved gardening, children, and animals. Giving himself for others was a major part of his life. He never missed an opportunity to give. His positive attitude and zeal for life were contagious. He would always find the good in people and refused to focus on the negative. To be around him made you feel like you were the most important person on earth. He would put aside anything he was doing to make you the center of his attention. Fresh fruits and vegetables, candy and treats, money, time or affection...everything he had, he shared. Evan Purser was a humble man who demonstrated how to live and treat others by his example.
He was born Dec. 13, 1933, in Hyde Park, UT, to Arthur and Veda Purser. Evan was raised at Ringgold Ranch where his family had a large dairy farm, raising hay, fruit, and vegetables. He attended Connell High School, BYU and graduated from WSU with a degree in Agronomy where he also worked as a professor. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and studied for his master's degree in New Zealand. Evan also served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. He married the love of his life, Treva on Jan. 4th, 1959. The first year of their marriage they lived in New Zealand where their first child, Phil was born. Evan returned to the Columbia Basin area, living in Connell, Mesa, and then Kennewick for the remainder of his years. He spent his lifetime working in agriculture which was his passion. He was a very gifted and talented gardener, landscaper and scholar. Evan and Treva were happily married for 52 years.
Evan was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Veda, his brother Marco Purser, and his son Dennis. He is survived by his wife Treva, his sons Phil, Gary, Kevin, and Steven, and his daughters Sarah and Nisha.
