LEONARD KLUG Obituary

Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home

Our husband, father, and friend went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 13, 2011. Leonard was born July 19, 1932, in Halliday, North Dakota, to Anton Klug and Juliana Katherine (Sitter) Klug. He was proud of his German from Russia heritage. The family moved to the Burbank area when Leonard was 4 years old.

Leonard grew up in Burbank and loved to hunt and fish. He was even in the old Columbia Newspaper for being a 'Sparrow Bounty Hunter' when he was younger. Leonard graduated from the original Columbia High School in 1951. In 1952, Leonard joined the Air Force. He served honorably in the Korean War. On December 28th, 1958, Leonard married the love of his life, Rose Mary Thom and settled in Pasco. They were later sealed in the Seattle Temple on April 15, 1982, for time and eternity. The family spent a lot of time hunting, fishing, and camping together. When their children married, they would spend Saturdays going to visit their children and grandchildren and also their numerous friends and extended family.

Leonard was an active member of the Pasco Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous positions but his favorite was the scouting program as he faithfully served 15 years. Leonard was the ultimate storyteller. He was known as a second father to many children and was the friendly neighborhood mechanic. Leonard worked as a Lab Technician Specialist at Hanford for many years and retired in 1994 from Siemens Nuclear Division.

Leonard is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Rosemary Klug of Pasco; Children and their Spouses, Michael Klug of Burbank; Debbie and Ron Wick of Pasco; David and Karen Klug of Burbank; Foster daughter Macy Billiot of New Orleans; his mother-in-law, Meta Thom of Pasco. He dearly loved his grandchildren Travis Klug, Cody Klug, Tiffany Wick, Matthew Wick, Ryan Wick, Shawn Wick, and Hunter Klug. Leonard was blessed with five great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his brothers Donald and Paul; Sisters Rosemary Swoboda and Helen Simonis. Leonard also loved many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; Brothers John Michael and Anthony; and Sister Alice Benson.

The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Hospice, and The Cold War Patriot Nurses who cared for him, and the many family and friends for their support and love.

Viewing will be held at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home in Pasco from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2011.
