JEANETTA ENFIELD Obituary

January 6, 1939 - April 11, 2011

Our beloved Jan, of Kennewick, WA, passed away peacefully after a long and dignified battle with pancreatic cancer at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle.

She was born in Oklahoma to Eugene and Maxine Elkins, the eldest of four children. They migrated from Oklahoma to Washington during WWII, where she graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma.

Jan was married to Chuck, the love of her life for over 50 years. They have two daughters and five granddaughters. She was full of life and energy and an avid tennis player and golfer. She and Chuck belonged to several country clubs throughout their life together.

Jan was very involved in her community; Junior Women's Club of Lakewood (JWCL), Children's Orthopedic Guild as well as Miss Tri-Cities Pageants. In the 1960s, JWCL named her Woman of the Year for her achievements.

In the past few weeks we've discovered there are many people who call Jan their best friend. She never met a stranger. She was known for her joy and zest for life and she shared that with everyone she met.

Jan is survived by her husband Chuck, daughters Connie (Richard) Best, Donna (Rex) Sims, granddaughters Stefanie, Brittany, Cassidy, Kelli and Bailey; sisters Judy (Brian) Jones and Pat (Brian) Connor. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Ray.

A memorial will be held at Calvary Community Church in Sumner, WA on April 19, at 1:00 followed by a reception at Rosemary and Roger Enfield's home, 10210 Lexington Ave. SW, Lakewood, WA. Please join us to celebrate her life.

Aunt Jan was a wonderful person and the best aunt ever. We loved her very much and will always remember her. I remember when she came by moms the day after mother passed away. I sat with her in mom's chair for a long time. As much pain as she was in and she was there for us. Jan was always there when you needed her.
