JERRY FANN Obituary


Hillcrest/Bruce Lee Memorial Center

Jerry Lee Fann, aka Fann-Man, 67, of Richland, passed away Saturday morning, February 12, while out on a morning bike ride with friends, when they stopped to regroup atop State Patrol Trail in Kennewick. He was born on August 23, 1943, in Medford, OR, to Rufus Henry Fann & Elizabeth Grace Doty. Jerry was in the US Navy and served in Vietnam 1968-1974. He married Margaret A. Rivard on June 13, 1986. Jerry retired June of 2011 from Washington River Protection as a Journeyman Pipefitter. He lived in the Tri-Cities for the past 29 years.

He was a member of the Local 598 Pipefitters, Chinook Cycling Club and a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 28 years.

Jerry enjoyed cycling with his friends; meeting numerous cycling & AA buddies at Starbucks. He was an avid Nascar fan. He completed the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon, along with 13 Canadian Ironman competitions. He loved mentoring others during the triathlons.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Margaret; brother Frank Fann of OR; brother-in-law Wally Gideon of OR; sister-in-law Ardyth Hansen and nephew & wife Jeffery & Danielle Hansen of NV; daughter Dorrie Burgess of NV; son Royal Dierk Jenefsky of FL; stepdaughter Brenda (Mike) Cullum of Kennewick; stepson Glenn Scott Sherman of Kennewick; stepdaughter, Kristin Faught of Kennewick; sonin-law Steve Faught of West Richland; stepson Robert Lack of Kennewick; son-in-law Mark Owen of Kennewick; nephew Doug (Teresa) Gideon, nieces Sherri Fann and Pam Robbins all of OR, and nephew Karl Fann of HI and many grandchildren; Austin, Jennifer, Jonathan, Brandi, Jayme, Rachelle, Tyler, Brian, Michael and Eric; and multiple great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Norman and his wife Doris, sister Mary Gideon.

A viewing will be held Thursday, February 17, 2011, from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at Hillcrest Bruce Lee Memorial Center in Pasco. Celebration of Life will held on Friday, February 18, 11:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, West 19th & Olympia in Kennewick. Burial to follow at City View Cemetery in Pasco with full Military Honors.

As a former Chinook rider, I extend sympathy for the passing of Jerry. Jerry's exuberance for life was great! His memory will live on! I was glad to have known him.

sorry for your loss mararet,i have very fond memories of you both.my son Mario wouldn't be hear today if it hadn't been for you both saving my life,and teaching me that i have a choice,and don't have to let life keep knocking me down and staying there.Jerry was the father figure i liked to think of when i wanted a father,he was awesome!
