MICHAEL MCCOMB Obituary

Mike McComb was born in Richland, Washington, January 15, 1946, and died May 8, 2011, on the ocean while on a Hawaiian cruise. His parents moved to Pocatello, Idaho, when he was six weeks old where he was raised until the age of 17 when he joined the Navy. As a young sailor, he served as a radioman, rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer and the last 10 years of his naval career was served in recruiting. He served his country with honor and bravery. He was stationed throughout the world including the Phillipines, Hawaii, California, served three tours in Vietnam finishing his naval career in the state of Washington. He loved the Navy and was proud to be an American Sailor.

Mike had many passions, one of which was baseball. As a boy, he was batboy for a minor league baseball team in Pocatello, Idaho, when he was fortunate to meet several famous ball players of that era. This passion carried over to becoming an avid Seattle Mariners fan. He also loved fishing on the ocean. Later came computers, which he embellished not only in using one but building and fixing many. Then with health issues, he resorted to cruising to regain the feel of the ocean once again.

He loved his family deeply and will truly be missed by family and friends. Mike is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jeannine; Stepdaughter, Jemmie Minielly (Sean); Stepson Mieles Saunders; Stepdaughters, Linda Renfro (Phil), Paula Bess; Stepsons, Ron Bess (Patty), Fred Bess (Kathy), Mike Bess (Dolly); sisters, Patricia Larsen (Larry), LaVera Borowy; Stepbrothers, Gerald Crossley (Cynthia), Edwin Crossley, Lynn Crossley (Allyne); Stepsister Bonnie Hemmert (Keith). He is also survived by many stepgrandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Crossley; father, Orin McComb; stepfather, Richard Crossley; a stepdaughter, 3 stepgrandchildren, and 1 stepsister.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Einan's Memories at Sunset Event Center, 915 bypass highway, Richland, Washington.
