Joan Messier Obituary
COHOES - Joan M. Messier, 75, of Congress Street, Cohoes died at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany on Thursday, April 11, 2012 after a brief illness.
She was born and raised in Cohoes and was the daughter of the late Wilfred E. and Eugenia Rousselle Messier.
Joan was a 1954 graduate of Burnt Hills/Ballston Lake High School. She was employed at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy, where she greatly enjoyed being a switchboard operator. She also held jobs for many years at both State and Federal level.
Joan will be remembered for her excellent bowling skills that brought her to multiple championships in Nevada. One of her favorite past times was playing cards with family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by a brother, Wilfred P. Messier, Sr. (Sally) of Malta.
Joan is the beloved aunt of Sally J. (Robert) Stamp, Kelly A. (Robert) Hammond, Wilfred P. (Barbara) Messier, Jr. and Michael F. (Kelly) Messier.
Joan also very much loved her 12 great-nieces and nephews, Tara (Tim) Luxner, Megan and Zachary, Tiffany Hammond, Ashley and Amanda Stamp, Gabrielle, Alexandra, Abigail and Wilfred Messier III and Chad and Kaci Messier.
Funeral services will be conducted 9 a.m. Tuesday at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes with Rev. William Turnbull officiating.
Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes.

Joan and I were friend's from the time she moved to Malta to the present. We graduated from Ballston Spa High School in 1954 and went to work together in Albany. In our youth we danced the night away and in later years we gambled the days away.We always made each other laugh and I will miss her always.

I fondly recall both her and her brother at BHBL. I was in her class of 54. Just want to express my condolences. It would have been 60 yrs out of school in 2014.
