Mona Patterson Obituary

Mona Lou Patterson 4/30/1931 - 7/12/2013 Mona Lou Patterson was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister. Pat was born in Emmett, Idaho. She graduated from Stephens College and The University of Arizona. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and numerous campus organizations. Pat was head of the physical education department at Palo Verde High School. She taught physical education and coached the girls' volleyball team to many successful seasons. She loved golf and belonged to the "Dorado Swingers" and the ladies golf club at Pinetop Lakes. Pat was a master joke-teller and she never knew a stranger. You never needed a party when "Pat" was around because she made every situation a party. We will remember her as always being fun and forever a friend. She is survived by a nephew and her longtime partner, Joan Lackie. The family thanks the staffs at Atria Campana Del Rio, life guidance area, Sunrise Senior Living and the Hospice staff for all of their help. In lieu of flowers, friends may support the charity of their choice. A Celebration will be held at Casa Molina, 3001 N. Campbell Ave., Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 3:02 p.m. - 4:57 p.m. Arrangements by FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL SOUTH LAWN.

I was one of the students in Miss Patterson's PE class at Wakefield Jr. High 1953 - 55 era.

Ms. Patterson was a most memorable person as evidenced by the fact that she is the only PE teacher from that time whose name I can recall. It's sad that such a marvelous gal has left us so soon.

Sending most sincere condolences to friends and loved ones.

Pat was my PE teacher at Palo Verde High. When I graduated and became a member of Chi Omega, we became sorority sisters. It was fun to get to know her as a sister. Rest in peace.

When I first joined the "Dorado Swingers" Pat gave me such a warm, friendly welcome. I loved her droll sense of humor. I will miss her.

We shared a lot of laughs. A good person of great empathy and a true friend. She would love the party at Casa Molina.

I'm very sad to hear of the passing of my absolute favorite teacher of all time. I played volleyball for Pat at Palo Verde and assisted her in her office during my senior year, 1971. Pat was a strong, determined woman who I admired greatly. She would yell at me when I went to the net to fist the ball. Years later she laughed and apologized, saying they now teach that move. My thoughts are with Ms Lackie, Pat's family and friends. I wish I could give her one more hug! Love and hugs Pat!

Your student always,
