Victor LaFave Obituary

LAFAVE, Victor Emanuel, Jr., formerly of Wilmette, Illinois died peacefully on June 5, 2011 at the age of 85. He was born on May 22, 1926 in Evanston, Illinois to Victor E. LaFave, Sr. and Marjorie (Crabb) LaFave. Vic is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Virginia (Ives) LaFave of Tucson. He leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Vic (Susan) LaFave of Tucson and a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra (Paul) Cote of Bristol, CT as well as eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Vic lived most of his life in Wilmette, retiring in 1988 from Pioneer Press where he worked as a machinist. He spent 23 fulfilling years in Tucson doing many of his favorite activities such as ship-building, silversmithing and cruising the world, a pastime that he was the happiest doing. A World War II Navy veteran who served proudly in the South Pacific, Vic always was drawn to the sea and built and owned several boats in his long life. He was a devoted father who loved his family dearly. Vic was a member of the American Theatre Organ Society and enjoyed playing for over 30 years. He was also a member of Vista de la Montana Methodist Church in Catalina where a Memorial Service will be held on June 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in Vic's name may be made to Vista de la Montana Methodist Church, 3001 E. Miravista Ln., Tucson, AZ 85739 or to the American Heart Association, 5325 E. Pima St., Tucson, AZ 85712. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

Here was a man who made a difference everywhere he went, he made it better. His light heartedness and strong soul gave the rest of us inspiration to be that great and happy. He was always happy. God Bless his family and his friends who will miss him. Always remember what he gave and taught, live right and be happy, and never let go of your faith. He was an amazing man and I thank "God" I was blessed to have known him. My sister and brother in law's hearts are broke, right with all the kids, but they had him long enough that he concreted foot prints in their hearts, and that is a great thing. He will always be loved and missed.

I hope you are all comforted in knowing Mr. LaFave is in a better place and that we all meet again when the time is right. I'm so glad I got to attend Tami's wedding and see all of the LaFaves, especially Mr. and Mrs. LaFave, Sr., whom I hadn't seen in probably forty years. I was quite impressed in how much they hadn't changed in that time. My thoughts are with you all. Love, Chuck and P.D.
