Mary Jane MILLER Obituary

MILLER, Mary Jane (Spencer) passed away peacefully in Littleton, CO on Monday, July 24, 2017, the result of a brain aneurysm. Mary Jane was born in Milwaukee, WI on January 20, 1925. She was a graduate of St. Catherine's High School in Racine WI, class of 1942, and Clarke College, Dubuque, IA. Mary Jane married Myron Leo "Mick" Miller on June 3, 1947, at St. Patrick's Church in Racine. They lived in Madison and Badger Village, WI while Mick finished his postgraduate education. In Racine, they raised their five children and enjoyed an active and fulfilling life among their many friends and family members. Mary Jane and Mick began a very happy retirement in Tucson, AZ in 1979, and after Mick passed in 2003, she lived in Tucson until 2013. She then moved to Highlands Ranch, CO to be closer to her daughter Terrie, who very lovingly assisted and cared for her over the last four years. Mary Jane was a former member of the Daughters of Isabella (charitable organization of Catholic women) and the Racine Junior League (sustaining member.) She was a former member of the Racine Country Club and the Tucson National Golf Club, where she enjoyed tennis and golf and, in later years, was a member of the "Nine-Holers." She was a former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Racine, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Tucson, AZ, and Risen Christ Catholic Church in Denver, CO. Mary Jane and Mick generously contributed to many charitable causes, which Mary Jane continued to do throughout her life. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her father, former Racine mayor Roy A. Spencer; mother Mabel (Murray) Spencer, and brother, James M. Spencer. She is also preceded in death by beloved husband Myron L. "Mick" Miller; son, F. Gordon Miller; son-in-law, John "Jack" Severtson and daughter-in-law, Barbara (Stoffel) Miller. She is survived by daughters, Michele Lynch (James) of Elmhurst, IL, Therese Ann "Terrie" Severtson of Highlands Ranch, CO, and sons, Gregory Spencer Miller (Candace Norton) of St. Paul, MN, and Timothy Gideon Joseph Miller (David Corral) of San Francisco, CA. Also survived by dear grandchildren, Brian D. Lynch (Kathy), Patrick J. Lynch, Amy T. (Severtson) Gladu (David), Scott M. Severtson (Leah McClay), Matthew L. Miller (fiancée Anna Annunziata), Jeffrey R. Miller (Kaitlin), Elizabeth M. Miller, and treasured great-grandchildren, Colin and Aidan Lynch, Stephanie and Rachael Gladu, Chenoa and Spencer Miller, and Sloan Severtson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1100 Erie St. in Racine, at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 with dear family friend Father Stanley Sledz officiating. Private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Racine. Memorials may be made to St. Catherine's High School, 1200 Park Avenue, Racine, WI 53403. Arrangements by MARESH-MEREDITH & ACKLAM FUNERAL HOME.
