My dear friend Valerie, I was so saddened to hear about your father's passing. I was not able to make it to the services, but I was thinking of you and praying for your family. I can tell by reading the memories shared in this guest book that he was a great inspiration to many and you definitely take after him with your caring ways and your kind heart. My condolences to you, Brian and your family. Love and God Bless.

Dear Zepeda Family,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Al. Al was a good friend and a mentor to many of us at Local Lodge 933. I had the honor of serving with Al during the 1990 and 1993 Hughes A/C Contract Negotiations. Al was a Brother, a mentor and a very good friend. He taught me many things as a brash young Union leader, but his most valuable lesson to me was always "Listen to the People Doing the Work". It is still on the wall at the current CEP Office today at now Raytheon Missile Systems. I will always be grateful for his leadership and service to our membership. His hard work and dedication has improved thousands of livelihoods at USAF Plant 44. He will be missed but his legacy of service continues to live on in many of us at the Old Pueblo Lodge 933 and the Machinists Union. My prayers and condolences go out to the family in this difficult time. Rest in Peace my Brother..
pss..Al gave me the nickname of "Fish Hook" :)

Sending love and condolences from the Sotomayor family. I played softball with Val for a few years and spent time with Al, Irene, and Jessica (our beloved bat girl). The Zepedas welcomed us into their home on several occasions and were always so much fun to be around. Those years are some of my best memories and I hope those same memories bring you some comfort during this time.

Thank you for all the memories you shared of our father. They made me smile to know he touched many people and he gave a nickname to many (LOL). He loved his time with the Union and was very modest about his accomplishments. He continued to fight the battle with a strong positive attitude. Thank you all!

My condolences to the Zepeda family! I had the pleasure of meeting Al at Hughes back in the 80's. He was one of the first Union reps I had ever dealt with, it was his honesty, caring and fight to protect people that inspired me to want to get involved and help people to...

Thank you Al... Rest in peace ♡

May you rest in peace Al. Prayers to you and all the Zepeda family. I worked with Al for years at Hughews A/C Co. He was the nicest man and very intelligent knowing businesses of the trade labor union. I really was very proud of Al for helping people in need. He always called me "CAT" because of my last name that starts with CAT. The smile he had could blind you and the smile and laughter. He had a way of getting to people. That was his style of communicating with you. My friend is gone now but will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace Al.

To the Zepeda Family,
In 1989 I was relocated from Canoga Park to Tucson by Hughes Aircraft (now Raytheon) to a new job assignment with Human Resources on the Career Enrichment Program. My committee reported to a "Main CEP Committee" with International Association of Machinist (IAM) Officer members & Hughes Management. One unforgettable member of the IAM was Mr. Al Zepeda. Al made me feel very welcome during my transition from California to Tucson and supported me as I learned the history of Tucson labor relations. One of my favorite sayings Al frequently used was "we want the whole Enchilada"...LOL! We all ran this saying into the ground. I am glad he has touched my life and was a guiding force in my company/union relations during the CEP transition. Thank you Al for your grand sense of humor & that huge smile. May you "Rest in Peace".
Sincerely, Connie Holbrook-Lebiecki❤

Dear Zepeda Family,
My condolences and sympathy to your family. I had the privilege and the honor of working with Al at Hughes Aircraft, eventually Raytheon for over 20 years. Al was a hardworking, straight forward, family man. He led our organization IAMAW Local Lodge 933 through one of its toughest periods as a leader in our Union. He was one of the founding members of the Career Enrichment Program, a program whose foundation is educating and equipping people. The program was way before its time in our Industry and eventually created many jobs for people today. His common sense approach to complex problems where essential in building the program which made it good for our business and accessible for working people. Today many people live better, because of his work and leadership.
As a young Union leader at the time, Al was a great mentor, his quote of listen to the people who do the work has guided me through many of my decisions to this day. He was an empathic listener and wanted to understand the difficulties people had to make things better. He was always willing to help people grow and offer words of wisdom to our future leaders.
He was a humble man and wouldn't want any notoriety. Al loved to have fun and would create nicknames for all who worked with him. Once he gave you a nickname it stuck with you for life.
Al loved his Padres and family, he cherished his wife and his girls which he would tell us where his blessings.
