Betty Brichta GARCIA

GARCIA, Betty Brichta 10/14/1929 - 4/19/2017 Mom was 87 years old and died peacefully until she took her last breath. Joining her parents, Angelina and Albert Brichta; her son, Rudy Garcia III and her brother, Albert Brichta Jr. in the hands of our Lord. She is survived and missed by her husband of 61 years, Rudolph Garcia; her only surviving sister, Lorraine (Rudy) Aguilar; four other children, Randolph (Julia) Garcia, Regina Butler, Roxanne (John Manzo) Garcia and Richard (Monica) Garcia. Also her 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel, Evan, Marcus, Jessica, Garret, Angelica, Amanda, Henry, Mateo and Diego. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, Edison, Margo, Noah, Aubree, Daniel, Esteban, David, Henry, Esperanza and Amaris. She dedicated most of her life to bettering the education for children. She worked for TUSD for 25+ years, the last 20 as Principal of Richey Elementary School and had a special place for the Yaqui children of the neighborhood. After surviving her battle with Colon Cancer forcing her to retire she spent much of her time enjoying her grandchildren and her love for the Catholic Church, including serving as a member of the Catholic Daughters. She graduated from Tucson High School and went on, while raising her last two children at home, to receive her 3 Masters in Education, Bilingual Education and Administration. Visitation will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel) 240 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Mass will be offered, 10:30 a.m. a St. Augustine's Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
