It seems like just yesterday, Ellie & I were co-workers at Hughes Aircraft. We became very good friends through our "Golf Club". She was such a loyal & dedicated person in life's many endeavors. Being a UA "Wildcat" will always bring so many memories of our friendship & her infectious smile & laughter. I will always think of her delicious tamales she made for my family. My love and sympathy to all family & friends.

Dear Anthony,
By the stories and photos you've shared of your grandmother it sounds like she was a huge role model in your life. May her lessons and memories be remembered and passed on as you continue your life and even though she is gone physically, she is still with us spiritually. Your family, yourself, and close friends of Elodia Rosales Avila will be in my prayers.

I didn't know Mrs. Avila, but I went to high school with three of her grandchildren, I considered Daniel my best friend. All were strong intelligent and friendly to all. It was obvious they had excellent influences in their lives, and I am sure their grandmother was one of the biggest and best. Rest in peace Grandma Golfer

Just from the stories and ways the family always talked about her, I knew that Mrs. Avila was an amazing, brightly spirited person. I hope that the memories provide comfort and the friends and family, strength through this period of time, and especially today. -M

Yaya, I met you when I was one year old and even though I cannot remember those initial days I know as I became conscious of living among all of you in Amado that you and Pechi welcomed me and loved me as your baby brother. I will miss you as I do Pechi and hold those days and every year I have known you and my entire family from Amado in the deepest area of my being. Love Arturito

Tomorrow we will gather to remember and celebrate the life of Ellie. We met 34yrs ago at H&R writing taxes and continued working and helping each other for 33yrs. We laughed and cried together watching her Wildcats and my WA Huskies. She loved her family and thought them by example. Ellie was a true friend and will be missed but always remembered with a smile. God's speed Ellie. Till we meet again. My Love & Sympathy to all the Family & Friends

Ellie was like a second mother to me, and not because we saw each other daily or monthly even, but because she accepted me as a mother would! She really was always so good to me and opened her arms and heart to embrace and love me! Ellie was a tenacious woman, strong and full of life <3 She will be greatly missed and may her legacy live on...

I meet Ellie many years ago when she did taxes part time for H&R Block. We used her services for many years and my mom, Ruth Heim, worked with her at Hughes. My Mom passed away 6/26/13, so they are having a wonderful reunion in heaven.
Ellie is a wonderful lady and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
My thoughts and prayer are with the family not only today but for the day to follow.

Santiago 4:14 nos dice “ . . . que ustedes no saben lo que será su vida mañana. Porque son una neblina que aparece por un poco de tiempo y luego desaparece.” Ojala que encuentre la fortaleza para sobre pasar esto momento difíciles y tenga fe en el futuro. Tambíen Dios nos promete lo que dice en Revelación 21:4 “ Y limpiará toda lágrima de sus ojos y la muerte no será más, ni existirá ya más lamento ni clamor ni dolor. Las cosas anteriores han pasado”.

Tom Finley: Thank you for your story and memories! I hope more people will share theirs as well. I knew her as grandma, but it's great to hear about all the other roles she played. Fortunately I never had to putt against her! Kind regards, Anthony

I first met Ellie playing golf in the Hughes league back in the eighties. One of the sweetest ladies I ever met, til you got on the green. "Ten cents a putt Tom, are you in"? She usually won, but she always gave me a good deal on tax prep and the best tasting tamales on the planet. I miss you, Mamacita.

Peace be with you,

Tom

I miss you Mom! I miss how we'd call each other several times a day just to chat. I still reach for the phone to call and remember you won't be there. It's a comfort that you are at peace and will love you forever! Norma

I will miss you forever Mom! You were such a supportive person in everything we did and I miss our daily phone calls back and forth to each other. I still wake up and the first thing I want to do is to call you to see how you are. I know you are okay now and at peace. Love you Mom-Norma

Tia Yaya was one of my favorite aunts and I know my mom loved her very much. Even though they were officially cousins, they were truly sisters at heart(they even had a double wedding together). She will be missed. Our love to the family.

Me and Grandma, May 2013

Anthony Avila

July 28, 2013

I'm one of Ellie's 9 grandchildren, and I know we'll miss our Grandma Golfer forever.

Thank you everyone who has stopped by, who has prayed, who has sent their condolences and kind thoughts...we know you loved her and will miss her as much as we do.

I am very grateful for our family and friends who helped keep her comfortable and helped take care of her until the very end, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to be with her, to comb her hair, to rub her arms, to make her smile. I'll cherish the time God allowed her to be in my life and in our lives, especially these last few weeks.

Thank you, again.

We love you, Grandma!
