Robert L. VAN DIELEN Jr.

VAN DIELEN, Robert L., Jr. Robert Louis Van Dielen Jr., 63, of Tucson, formerly of San Manuel, died Monday, July 10, 2017, in Tucson. He leaves behind daughter, Amanda (Jarrod) Nielson and son, Matthew; father, Robert Sr. (Dorothy); brothers, Gerald (Julie), Randall (Shalon) and Jeffrey (Eileen); granddaughter, Sydney Nielson, grandson, Brandon Van Dielen; dogs, Farley and Jackson; and countless friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Wilma. Born April 29, 1954, in Wabash, IN, Rob moved to San Manuel with his parents in 1963 and remained in Arizona for the rest of his life, except for a brief period when he mined in Grants, NM. He retired from Magma Copper Company, where he worked as a contract miner in Superior and then later as a purchasing manager in San Manuel. Rob was an avid fisherman and an informed reader with strong opinions and a real talent for jokes and playful debate, especially with his grandchildren. Rob was well known as a loyal and generous friend with a passion for life and his family. He will be missed. Cremation arrangements through VISTOSO FUNERAL HOME, Oro Valley. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
