Stan WINETROBE Obituary

WINETROBE, Stan 64, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018, from complications due to leukemia. Stan, a die-hard USC Trojan fan, whose brain was filled with all sorts of trivia, loved his wife, Dana, and daughters, Hailey and Carly, possibly even more than USC. Stan, a retired engineer, enjoyed photography, volunteering in his community, and watching football with his family. Stan is also survived by his brother, Jamie (Melanie); nephew, Alec (Lizzie); brother-in-law, Kevin (Terri); niece, Taylor; nephew, Colin; and numerous friends. Services will be at VISTOSO FUNERAL HOME, Oro Valley, on  Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.  In keeping with Stan's love of USC, you are invited to wear any Trojan attire or colors (Cardinal and Gold) to his services. Donations to honor Stan's memory and his love of community may be made to IRHS Project Graduation, at irhsprojectgraduation.com, recognizing his collaboration with the Oro Valley Police Department.

I was saddened to hear of Stan's passing. He inspired me to attend USC and become a life-time fan. Enjoyed many happy memories of high school and college times spent together. Feel certain he is watching his beloved Trojans from above and can hear his Fight On cheers. Hugs to his family

I worked with Stan to take Project Grad golf tournament photos. I am so sad to hear of his passing. My heart goes out to Dana and the family. He was a wonderful, competent, volunteer, and a nice guy.

I'm so sorry about Stan! I will never forget how much he helped me when I was first learning how to use the computer! I didn't know he had passed away until I read the Explorer. Sending my love to you Dana, Hailey and Carly!

I first met Stan about twenty years ago when I was new to then Hughes Missile Systems. We ended up working together on a program and I helped him teach an intro course to Systems Engineering. He had a dry sense of humor and he could tell a million different stories - he was like a walking encyclopedia! I remember Stan as someone who cared about people, cared about his work, and he wanted to make sure that whatever he did, he made sure it was done right.

Stan's spirited dedication to the students and families of Oro Valley and the Amphi School District communities moved me to want to serve! His loving persistence in pursuit of Project Grad since 2004 has built an enduring, life-saving institution that will continue to thrive.

The Winetrobes are like a second family to me and Stan was such a treasured friend. My husband loved his dad jokes so much that he would collect good puns and jokes between our visits that he deemed "Stan worthy" so he could share them with him when we saw him again. He was always so kind and so caring. He really cared about how others were doing in a deep and sincere way. He gave a lot of himself to others and the community. Whenever I had a big purchase to make and thought about researching consumer reports- I'd just ask Stan instead. He was so detail oriented and precise in a lovable way. His photography was beautiful. His loyalty to friends and family is unforgettable. His humor will always have a place in my heart and my memories. I'll always look at a cruise ship and think to myself "I wonder if the captain would be willing to pop a wheely?" I'll think of Stan and I'll smile.

I became friends with Stan in the 1970's when we were both young engineers working on the Maverick Missile Programs at Hughes Aircraft Company in Canoga Park, California. I had the honor of Stan's friendship through our Tucson Arizona years and on into our retirement years from Raytheon. I will always fondly remember the many memories of happy times spent with Stan during our years as friends. Stan will be remembered by family and friends as a true Gentleman and caring gentle soul with an amazing memory who made this world a better place by his presence. Char and I send our Love and support to Dana and family.

I met Stan several months before Daniel Borg and my daugher Megan were married. From our first encounter he made me feel welcome and comfortable. He took fantastic wedding photos and I was so impressed how he passed on his talent and passion for photocraphy to his daughter Carly. He always seemed so relaxed and calm, no matter what was happening. Stan was always friendly and easy to talk to. I will miss your humor and smile Stan. May you be at peace.

From the first time I met Stan he was welcoming and friendly. He was easy to talk to and he took fantastic photos of Megan and Daniel's wedding. I love that he was so detailed oriented and very thoughtful. It didn't seem to me that much rocked Stan's boat and that he dealt with whatever came up. Stan, I will miss your smile, your hugs and seeing you for birthdays.

I had the honor to work with Stan and he was an outstanding person. He was kind, a true gentleman, witty, a walking trivia encyclopedia and a very dedicated and caring colleague. He was also an extremely talented photographer. I send my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. The world was a much better place for his being here. May his memory be a blessing.

I first met Stan in 1979 at Hughes Aircraft in Cailf. He was a young engineer, had a wit that always brought a smile. An exceptionally gentle soul who leaves us better for having known him. Thank you Stan for all your guidance, support and most of all your friendship.

Without a doubt one of the one the best neighbors I've ever had. Would stand at the wall and talk about Raytheon or anything. Always had a smile on his face. He will be missed. Stan left the world a better place, a goal we should all set for ourselves.

I met Stan our freshman year of college at SC in what became an enduring friendship. Stan taught me the meaning of being a Trojan well as loyalty, commitment, dedication, passion and compassion. His love of family, life and yes, school, are his legacy! Rest in peace my friend and forever FIGHT ON!
