Bernie was the first guy I dated. Saw him many times over the years. His daughter and my daughter were best friends.

Bernie is a very bright memory for me. Although I didn't spend a lot of time with Bernie other than shopping at Silverberg's I felt that Bernie was a true friend. I can still see his smile when he greeted me...and other customers. Bernie and Herb also did a personal favor for my husband and me many years ago that I will never forget and for which I will always be grateful. He was a very special person and I still miss him.

It's hard to believe that it has been 8 years since Bernie left this world for the next. I still think of him often and his smile every time my wife and I visited him in the store. My visits to Tucson have become less frequent with the passing of both my mother and recently my brother Jerry but even still I can't pass the store without fond memories of Bernie. He was really the only high school friend in Tucson with whom I maintained contact over the years. To the Silverberg family our deepest condolences on this sad anniversary. May his memory be for a blessing. Shalom

To the Silverberg family. Altho I live in Tucson I just found out after visiting the store today. I can't say how sorry I am. Altho, Los Angeles is a big city whenever my family came to visit me they left with a piece of jewelry sold to us first from Herb then by Bernie. They were so special to our family. May GOD give you all peace. Sincerely, Sydria

Dear Silverberg Family:

Mr. Bernie and his brother, Mr. Herb, were dear friends to my father, Tom Gwyn.

I still remember being a little girl and going downtown to the Silverberg and Son store with my dad, and later going to one of the downtown restaurants and ordering a shirley temple with double cherries!

Mr. Bernie and Mr. Herb also convinced daddy that I should accept my offer into Stanford University (which I did) instead of this other small girl's college in Minnesota that daddy thought I should attend.

Mr. Bernie was a good friend to my father, and will always be a large part of my fondest childhood memories while growing up in Tucson.

I'll miss Mr. Bernie, and his warm smile and kind heart.

Dear Cynthia, Eddie, David, and Lisa, I am so sorry to hear about Bernie's passing. I was in California with my parents when we got word that Bernie had died and words can't even express how shaken we all were, especially my Mom and Dad. I am so grateful for the friendship Bernie and my Dad have had for over 60 years. Even though I didn't see Bernie often, he is just one of the kindest people I've ever known. And, of course, I got my engagement ring (25 years ago) from Bernie. After all, once a Tucson girl, always a Tucson girl. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time.
Much Love,

We are thinking of you all right now, our deepest thoughts & prayers are with your whole family at this time. We love you Edward and to all your family. We can't thank your family enough for all the many years your father was a blessing to us through Pat's job there working for your family.Providing graciously...It was because of your father needing Pat to come here and offered him that job over 7 years ago when he was in Seatle that he even moved back to Tucson~how he was even able to see his father and spend time with him before he passed away, and Pat & I were married & had Nathan...you'll never understand just how deeply instrumental your father was, in our lives, or how preciously God's used you. How gracious you were to us, to me & Pat when Nathan was diagnosed with cf, and the kindness you gave us~Have continued to be... We are thinking of you ~praying for you...I know this is going to be so hard for you. I'm so terribly sorry. I know Pat was in tears yesterday when he was speaking to you on the phone, and I was along with him. If there's anything at all we can do please let us know. With our highest & deepest esteem, regard, and affection~Love to you & your whole family~Les,Pat,Thomas & Nathan Contreras

To the Silverberg family my deepest condolences on your loss. Bernie and I go back more than 60 years. We went to Tucson High, belonged to AZA and have remained friends over all these years. Every time I returned to Tucson I made a point of stopping in to see Bernie. His warm welcoming smile would melt away any troubles you may have had when you walked in to the store. Bernie was the only jeweler whom my wife and I could implicitly trust. I visted with him just this past April when I was in Tucson and was really looking forward to seeing him again at our high school 60th reunion in 2012. Bernie was a real mensch, he not only met the bar, he set the bar for others to follow. Bernie, my friend, thank you for all you were, we will miss your not being in the store and talking and reminising. Shalom Chaver! May your memory be for a blessing.

Dear Cynthia and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I feel that I have known Bernie all my life because he was my brother's friend from high school and AZA before you all were my in-laws' neighbors. His kindness and compassion were an example to all. He was a real mensch. My brother, Ron Weiss, and I were in visiting him in the store a month ago. May his memory be for a blessing.

To Edward and all the family...I am so sorry to read about Bernie. I have so many fond memories. He was always so welcoming at the store and always made me feel like he was waiting for me to come in, making it a very pleasant experience...since my first time in the store in 1972.

I'm sure this is a very difficult time. My prayer for you is that you be surrounded by family and friends and by God's healing love.

Sincerely,
Jannie Cox

When I was a teenager and wanted to buy a bracelet my father, Bill Corcoran, told me that I could only deal with Silverbergs. I took that message to heart. More wonderful, kind, compassionate people are hard to find. Yes, Bernie always had a smile and a joke but he was also the consummate professional. He treated all equally in his gentlemanly way. The earth is blessed to have had him here. We who are left will miss him beyond measure.

Today my husbands dear brother, Bernie Silverberg, passed from this world. He left a sprinkle of humbleness and a life lesson everywhere he went and with everyone he met. His dedication to family and business was admirable. We all learned from him and he will be missed immensely. Bernie was hardworking and a joy to listen to talk or tell a story. His laughter was infectious and his spirit was unstoppable. His heart was loving and he gave of it generously to his community, family and friends. He was a "mench" in every sense of the word. His life was a joyous blessing. His kindness touched everyone he met and he will never be forgotten.
