Paul WALKER Obituary

WALKER, Paul James 66, of Tucson, passed away on June 30, 2017 in Vancouver, WA surrounded by family. He was born on June 28, 1951 to Lois and Tom Walker. He is survived by his wife, September, his children, Mason and Misty, his grandchildren, Preston, Victoria and Greyson, sister, Lisa Madore, nephew, Max, niece, Christina and her son, Angel. Paul was a cowboy at heart and passed while September read him cowboy poetry. Paul, his cowboy hat and dog Maggie left their mark on the Tucson community. Paul and his sisters, Lisa, Amy and Chrissy grew up on Prince Rd. Local artists built a studio named Las Canastas on the property with a traditional kiln modeled after a Mayan temple. Lois' love for art and southwestern culture made an impression on Paul from a young age. Lois bought Country Emporium Antiques on Dodge in 1974. Paul had a deep-rooted passion for antiques and collectibles. He soon took over Country Emporium. In 1979 he met his love, September Stark. They were married in 1980 and had their children, Mason in 1981 and Misty in 1983. Paul raised his family in the store and created unique experiences for them to appreciate history along the way. Paul and September worked hard to make Country Emporium a showplace specializing in western and mining relics. Anyone who visited the store found Paul to be very generous with his time and honest with his words-which was the greatest treasure to be found in Country Emporium. Paul loved the desert and was at home here. He shared his love of nature with his wife and kids during their many camping and hiking trips coving the far corners of Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. He had many friends of all ages and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the Adair Funeral Homes Avalon Chapel, Oro Valley, AZ. Arrangements entrusted to ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES.

I was searching for a number to get in touch with Paul, when I found that he had passed. We met Paul at Country Emporium many many years ago. Once in awhile he would come into the motorcycle dealership where I worked to look at quads and kick tires. We loved going into Country Emporium to see what new things he had found and to listen to his travels. We met beautiful September and their children. We are so saddened by the loss of Paul and our thoughts are with his family.

Wow Paul, no wonder I haven't been seeing you around the antique/collectible stores. We went to Cragin Elementary school through Catalina High School together. We had the same interests of antique western memorabilia, too. Thought it was so cool you were born in Tombstone.
Knew your sweet mom, Summer and your kids since they were little. We'll take care fellow Trojan and will see you when I see you.

It has truly been an honor to know Paul for 30 years and be able to call him our friend. His passing is a tremendous loss to his family, friends, and the entire Tucson community, but he will live on in our hearts. We will fondly be reminded of the friendship we shared when we pass Tucson landmarks, such as the Walker family owned Country Emporium antique store, Trail Dust Town and the antique fairs where Paul & his beloved dog, Maggie, would set up. Vaya con dios, Paul.

Mason and Misty,
Your whole family is in our hearts and prayers. The measure of a man is easy to see in the children that he raised. What an amazing legacy he is leaving. Mason, you and your father are part of the same tradition. Your Dad embraced history and tradition while your family's lifestyle embraces new technology and family values-both part of the same tradition. You all do him proud.

To the Walker Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

Paul was a blessing to me, as he was to many. An honorable man who kept the term "Gentleman" alive. Rest in peace, my dear friend ....

Paul was a student of mine during the time I taught at Catalina High School in Tucson, Az. I was lucky enough to meet his parents and spend time with them in their home. Through the years Paul would call me on the phone just to say "hi". Although it has been many years since we last spoke I have always remembered Paul fondly. Paul was so young - sorry his time on earth has come to an end.

Although we didn't know Paul personally, his legacy lives on through his children, Mason and Misty, whom we do know well. We are honored to be present for them at their father's celebration of life.
