Edward LOTZ Obituary

LOTZ, Edward Philip 95, passed away on July 11, 2017 at the Arizona State Veterans' Home in Tucson. He is survived by his loving wife, Vera Lucille Lotz (nee Hays), with whom he celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on the Fourth of July this year; his three children, Darrel Lotz (Arlington, MA), Patricia Mulvaney (Shreveport, LA), and Karen Eger (Chandler, AZ); his four grandchildren, Karen Lotz-McMillen (m. John McMillen, Lexington, MA), Emily Bearden (m. Sean Bearden, Jonesboro, AR), Philip Mulvaney (m. Heather Mulvaney, Ashburn, VA), and Dana Eger (Medford, MA). He is also survived by six great-grandchildren,  Zachary Bearden, John Henry Lotz-McMillen, Jacob Bearden, Ravelle Lotz-McMillen, Megan Mulvaney, and Caitlin Mulvaney;  as well as a host of adoring nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Born in the family home near McGirk, Missouri, on November 22, 1921, he was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Georgianna Lotz; his three sisters, Velma Schreiber, Winnie Connors, and Lorene Allee, and his beloved first daughter, Donna LaRue Lotz. The family wishes to give their thanks to the excellent care staff at the VA Hospital and Home; Fellowship Square on East Broadway; Sierra del Sol; and especially his personal caregiver, Sally DeVerney. Edward was a 26-year veteran of the Army Air Corps and Air Force. He received a bronze star and other commendations and served in France, Iceland, and Vietnam.  He later received his bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Arizona and was an avid Wildcats fan. For fifteen years, he taught sixth grade with a specialty in mathematics at Liberty School in the Sunnyside School District. A man of faith and service, he was a longtime member and deacon at the 22nd Street Baptist Church and prior to that, the Morningside Baptist Church. A Memorial Service with a military salute will be held at the 22nd Street Baptist Church in Tucson on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, with a visitation hour from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are being made by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME.

My Condolences to the entire Lotz Family,
Mr. Lotz was my 6th grade teacher at Liberty Elementary in 1983, at that age I saw a tower of a man and thought to myself Oh boy I'm in trouble. Turned out that Mr. lotz was one of the kindest, most caring individuals that I had as an educator and mentor over the years. I am sorry to hear of his passing and hope that the family can find peace knowing how many lives he touched throughout his years. Mr Lotz will always be remembered and hold a special place in my heart.
