Joy ROBESON Obituary

ROBESON, Joy Elizabeth On July 20, 2017, our Lord called Joy Elizabeth Robeson to join Him in her reward in the kingdom of Heaven. A beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother; Joy will be greatly missed by all she left behind, and we all share in the hope of seeing Joy again in the hereafter. Born, Joy Elizabeth Cochran in Duncan, Arizona on January 7, 1935 to her parents, William Harley and Addie Elizabeth Cochran. Joy was welcomed into this world by four adoring brothers. After living her early years in the bosom of a large and warm family, Joy met a wonderful young man and soon married George Walter Stead. The marriage of Walt and Joy was blessed with four children, Alan Ray, Lori Jean, Roxanne Joy and David Randall. Joy and Walt raised their children in Tucson, filling their lives with many happy memories. Many years later, Joy was married to Victor Robeson. With their marriage, Vic's children, Michelle, Denise, Lisa, Michael and Sheri became part of the loving union that Vic and Joy created. Joy and Vic lived many happy years together before retiring and living out their golden years in Tombstone, Arizona where they shared their various interests and were surrounded by many friends and of course, their many children and grandchildren. Joy was a woman of many interests and passions. A gifted artisan, whether sketching, painting or designing jewelry; she was an insatiable reader, a wonderful cook, and a true animal lover, as the wildlife near their home, in addition to her many cats could attest. She and Vic shared a passion about the history of their adopted community of Tombstone. Serving with a variety of community groups and historical organizations, they dedicated their efforts to restoring the old western town and its proud heritage for all to share. One only needs to walk the streets of Tombstone to see and enjoy the fruits of their efforts. Joy is survived by her children, Alan Stead (Sheila), Lori Klein (Brett), and Roxanne Stead; her stepchildren, Michelle Robeson, Lisa Reames (Robert), Michael Robeson (Maria) and Sheri Abernathy; her stepsiblings, Marcelyn Dickerson Mann and Celeste (Elaine) Dickerson Valentine. In addition, Joy is survived by her many beloved grandchildren (14) and great-grandchildren (18). Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Vic; infant son, David Randall Stead; her stepdaughter, Denise Robeson Marshall; siblings, William Harley Cochran Jr., Jack Howard Cochran, Thomas Eldon Cochran, Robert Lewis Cochran; stepbrother, Donald Dickerson; stepsister, Helen Jean Dickerson Decker. While we all share in the feeling of loss with Joy's passing, the family would like everyone to take solace in their memories of Joy, celebrate a life well lived and smile a bit when thinking of her. A Celebration of Joy's life will be held at DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME, 3081 W. Orange Grove Rd., Tucson, AZ 85741, Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
