Chester James Antieau

ANTIEAU, Chester James, 93, of Tucson died Monday, December 18, 2006. Born November 14, 1913 in Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Antieau was a professor of constitutional law for many years, retiring from Georgetown University Law School, where he was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in 1975. He earned degrees from the Detroit Institute of Technology, Detroit College of Law and the University of Michigan Law School. He was an international authority on modern constitutional law, the author of more than a dozen books, and a strong proponent in the role of higher law as a safeguard of human freedoms. He married the former Ona Mae Larner of Oskaloosa, Kansas in 1942. They were later divorced. His military service in World War II consisted of Judge Advocate and Information and Education assignments for the Army. He was based primarily in Italy and finished his tour of duty as a captain. Dr. Antieau has been a resident of Tucson since 1981, and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, and his beloved son, John. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Korneman, and her husband Gary, of St. Joseph, Missouri. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 22, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 3201 E. Presidio, Tucson. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.
