David Rico Obituary

David Salvador Rico 91, a World War II Veteran who served in the South Pacific where he was wounded several times, left to join his darling wife, Martha in heaven on April 2, 2011. He was born March 1, 1920 in Florence, Arizona. David will be missed by all who knew him especially his surviving children, Jimmy (Linda), Linda Giacoletti (John), Barbara Valdez (Alex), Dolly Rico-Barnes; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one on the way and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Feliz, Gilbert and Andy Rico. David, also known as Sal, was the "best darn cabinet maker in town" for over 30 years and owner of several cabinet shops throughout his life. He was an avid outdoorsman and former member of the Pima Pistol Club, South Tucson Lion's Club and Santa Rita Optimist Club. The family would like to thank everyone at Manor Care for their dedication and help in caring for our Dad for the last nine years. A special note of appreciation is given to the staff at Heartland Hospice who helped guide us through this difficult time. Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2011, 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 9:00 a.m. Mass will follow, 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Interment at Holy Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Tucson, 3003 S. Country Club. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

Mr. Rico,

I never knew met you but I would like to "Thank you" for serving our country during WWII. If it weren't for your service to our nation and keeping us safe, we may not enjoy the lives we have now. My father is also a WWII veteran.

Again thank you for your military service to our country.

We are very proud of you and may you rest in peace.

Family, though you mourn the great loss of Mr. Rico take this moment to celebrate his wonderful life and his memory will live on in your hearts forever.
