Jamie Patel Obituary

Jamie D. Patel of Tucson, Arizona was taken from us suddenly on February 11, 2010. Jamie was born on April 27, 1983 in Mesa, Arizona. Jamie was raised in Mesa and graduated from Westwood High School where he was active in JROTC and played the saxophone in the marching and jazz bands. He served four years in the US Navy and was aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) for three of these years. He then served honorably for two years in the Korea Seoul West Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (L.D.S.). Upon returning to Arizona and moving to Tucson he met Jessie, the love of his life, and they were married for time and all eternity on June 6, 2009, in the Draper Utah L.D.S. Temple. Jamie was a student at the University of Arizona and planned to rejoin the Navy in 2011 to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a Naval Aviator. Jamie was a loving and wonderful husband, son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He had a way of turning friends into family and charmed everyone he met with his infectious smile and unique sense of humor. Jamie had a kind and generous spirit and was always eager to help anyone in need. His laughter and joyfulness will be missed deeply by his family and countless friends, all of whom were blessed to have known him. Jamie's unwavering devotion to his family, friends, faith and country will continue to be an inspiration to us all. Jamie is survived by his wife, Jessica Patel; his parents, Jean and Dilip Patel; his siblings, Tina Baker and Neil Patel; as well as his grandmother, Geraldine Young. Family and friends may attend a viewing on Friday, February 19 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL on East Broadway Blvd. in Tucson. Services will be held at the L.D.S Campbell Ward on Saturday, February 20, 2010 with visitation from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Binghampton Cemetery 4001 N. Alvernon Way. Military honors will be presented at the graveside. Contributions in memory of Jamie may be made to the Jamie Patel Benefit Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo (acct #5384) which has been established to support charitable causes in his name.

Dear Mrs. Patel,
Please know that Alex and I pray for you every night. Alex and I talked quite a bit about what happened to Mr. Patel when he came home from school with the note. He talked about how Mr. Patel came to the class on Fridays and he will miss that. I am sorry that I never got to know Mr. Patel but at the service, listening to the words that you wrote, I felt I got to know him a little. Alex did not know that Mr. Patel was in the Navy and he thought that was very special. The service was truly beautiful and it was clear that you were surrounded by people who love you. I am truly sorry for your loss.

I am deeply sorry for your loss Jessie. I may not have met Jaime, but I can feel a humble and kind spirit as I read this beautiful obituary. When I first saw a picture of him (from your wedding), my first impression was that he was a giver, one who served without complaint. Maybe that is why he was taken so suddenly, our Heavenly Father needs his selfless warriors. I love you so much and my prayers are with you.

Jessie,
I am so sorry for your loss. I often contemplate our mortal existence and as I do I gain faith and hope in the Temple and the covenants and ordinances that are carried out there, may these things and the assurance of the resurrection and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ keep your mind and soul buoyed up in these trying times is my prayer.

This is so horrible! I'm so sorry that you and your family are going through this. Just the few times that I met him I could tell what a wonderful man he was. Especially when I found out that he took his time and sewed your halloween outfit. What man does that? Just the man that loves his wife with all of his heart! I wish I could do or say something to help you through this. But I did read up on Mormon beliefs and I'm happy that you will be together for eternity! Just know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers always.

Jessie,
My heart aches for you and all your family. I will miss Jamie greatly, and I am blessed to have known him, though for too short of a time. His kindness to me and my boys will never, ever be forgotten. It is people like Jamie who make this a better place as they leave their love and lasting impressions with us. I won't forget his infectious smile and his sense of humor that made me belly-laugh; his love for you was undeniable... I admired the way he looked at you even during the most simple moments. I will continue my daily prayers for you and your family, Jessie... I love you!
Kristen, or "Cookie" to you! (smile)

Jessica,
BTW, Jamie was born on the same date that is my birthday (only 36 years later). I will always think of you and him on that day.

Dear Jessica,
Your Dad gave me the sad news last week. we will do all that we can to help on our end. The few months that you had together are too short, but I am sure that your loving memories will last a lifetime. Much love to you and both families.

I am so saddened by this tragedy. Jessica, I was so touched by your strong spirit as I served you and your mother in the Temple. May our Lord comfort you and give you peace as you move through this trial. I can tell you from experience that as you turn to the Lord, leaning on Him for support, you will be able to go forward. May God watch over and protect you.

How sad. He was much too young to go so soon. We are praying for all of you and know that your hearts are broken. There is nothing that will fill the hole inside of you. Time will help to ease the pain but nothing will totally take it away or remove it. He will be with you forever and watching over you. I will remember his smile and his love for you Jessie. May God comfort and bless you all. All our love,
