miss you and thankful for time , far too brief , that I got to know and share with you. You were so creative , loved to dance, had a big heart and amazing sense of style. One day I wore your butterfly dress and a little girl came up to me and smiled and said how beautiful it is. You were so beautiful and a gentle creative spirit like that butterfly.

I will miss you Opalcat. You never banned me once in 13 years and I will never forget that. I am at a loss for words right now..this is so not right.

Your Admirer always,

I only knew Opal online. For over a decade, she was a familiar presence--full of life. I was always glad to hear her voice.

She brightened many of my dreary work days reading her posts.

Not to mention seeing her art.

Opal, you *WILL* be missed.

Opal, you *ARE* missed.

Opal Kat,

Thinking of you makes me smile. Your artwork was brilliant. Your talent and free spirit sparkled in every piece.

I will miss sharing stories, having dinner at meetup, talking cats and kids to smelling new lipbalms.

Dominic, your mother loved you and spoke of you often. May she live in your heart. My sympathy goes out to you, Dan, and all of her family and friends.

Peace and rest Opal Kat

Opal, as she was known to those of us who only knew her online persona, was nevertheless a real presence in so many of our lives, and her passing leaves a noticeable gap. She will be genuinely missed by so many who had never even met her in person, such was her spirit. Bye, Opal.

March 20, 2013

My condolences to her family. Opal was one of the first people I met online, back when I first started using the internet. I'm sorry for your loss.

I knew Katherine only briefly, but shared some fun and laughs through a dinner group. I am sorry I didn't get to see her art shows, but she was clearly a gifted artist. My sincere condolences to her family ...

Baby don'cha hear my heart
You got it drowing out the radio
I've been waiting so long
For you to come along and have some fun
And I gotta let you know
No you're never gonna regret it
So open up your eyes, I got a big surprise
It'll feel all right
Well I wanna make you motor run

Katherine was a force to be reckoned with, a phenomenal creative talent, a devoted and loving mother, and a kind and generous soul. I know her politics were from the other side of the aisle, but when I think about the senior George Bush's "thousand points of light", Katherine comes to mind. She touched so many people, in so many different ways. I feel blessed that Opal considered me a friend as well, and that I got to know her. Her presence made my life richer; I am poorer for her absence.

Katherine left an indelible imprint on the hearts of those she knew. She was my bright and audacious drama student at Amphi - the best Puck the world has seen - and went on to give the world such vision through her art. I'm so glad I got to see her a few years ago and see the amazing woman she had become. I will miss her presence and the occasional connection on facebook - thankful for reconnecting. Prayers to her mom and son.

There are just some people that you click with immediately. Katherine and I clicked. Katherine was a force of nature. She was smart, creative, talented, unconventional, empathetic, funny, and complex. She didn't always take the easy path and that was one of the things I loved most about her. She was unapologetic and audacious about her loves (her son Dominic, her art, her cats, her romances, her taste in movies and music, her love for the outdoors and cold weather, the joy she found in juggling and dancing, her love of performing) and she put her whole self/heart/soul into whatever she focused on. There were times when Katherine (like all of us) struggled and she was able to give voice to those challenges. There were also time when she was joyous and she shared that openly too. She just recently sent me an email about how happy she was and how much she was enjoying life. I was so happy to hear about her joy. I am grateful for our friendship of 25 years. I am grateful for the beauty she brought into the world. I am grateful for all the little moments we shared and the idiosyncrasies of life that we found humor in together. I am so heartbroken that I will not get to share those types of moments with her again. The world is less without her in it. My love goes out to all who loved Katherine too. ?

There are not enough to express how much you meant to so many people. I'm so glad I could say you were my friend. I know that this Earth is a little less brighter without you in it.
I hope your family can find peace and comfort in knowing that you touched so many with your wonderful talents and beautiful spirit. I love you and will never forget you (Opal Cat).
