DUNCOMBE, Kenneth David, passed on July 21, 2008 at the Devon Gables Care home, after a long illness. He was born in Union City, PA. on November 27, 1925 and lived in Franklin, PA after his military service, until he moved to AZ in 1980. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise King Cooper and Russell Duncombe, grandparents, and Mitzi Rugh, former wife and friend of seven years. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Campbell Duncombe; sons, David, Michael and Kenny; three stepchilden, Leslie (Jose) Lemus, Brian (Sue) Hollenbaugh and Stephen (Shiela) Hollenbaugh and grandchildren, Andrew Scott, Amanda Sue, Jonathen and William; a cousin, Keith Cooper of Roanoke, VA and the Rugh children. Kenneth served his country with pride and honor during WWII in the US Navy on the USS Mirak and on sub-chasers in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He was employed at the Joy Manufacturing Company for 33 years as a journeyman welder and served on the Pa. Game Commission for several years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, and horseback riding. He also enjoyed his Red Oak Kennel where he raised, bred and hunted champion Bluetick coon hounds. He enjoyed and loved the Arizona deserts and frequently rode his Quad with Stephen. Ken encouraged and mentored many to become more than they may have thought they could. He will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial service will be private at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL and burial will be at Southern Arizona Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista, AZ. Donations will be accepted by the Kidney Foundation or the Diabetic Association. Rest well my love, for I will join you in the sweet by and by. Arrangements by ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 520-888-1111
