Peter CHIMOS Obituary

CHIMOS, Peter John 75, passed away on July 2, 2017 after a brief struggle with heart failure. Born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, he earned a mechanical engineering degree from North Carolina State University and remained a lifelong, avid fan of Wolfpack sports. Commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force (1967), he was stationed at Davis Monthan as a missile launch officer and test engineer, until his honorable discharge as a Captain in 1971. That year he married a local girl named Sue and remained in Tucson. Pete had a successful and rewarding, 29-year career at Southwest Gas, retiring as engineering supervisor in 2001. He and Sue celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in March of 2017. He is survived by Sue Chimos; three children, John Chimos, Kenny Chimos (Lindsay) and Christy Erickson (Tony) and four grandchildren, Alex Erickson (23), Jake Erickson (10), Dylan Erickson (8) and Henry Chimos (2). Pete surrendered his life to Jesus in 1977 and followed Him faithfully, honoring Him in every aspect of his life. All who knew him loved and respected him. He was precious and adored by his wife, kids, grandkids and extended family. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Community Church, 530 South Pantano at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 30, 2017 followed by a dinner/tribute reception. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a Christian charity of your choice.

Pete's life magnified the Lord. He had a big heart for his wife, his children and his church family. It was a blessing for our family to know him and enjoy him and we look forward to seeing him in heaven. May God's comfort bring peace and healing to the Chimos family in their sorrow.

To the Chimos Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
