I worked for Walt in 1979. We made doors and other furniture. Walt was amazing with the carving and I learned a lot from him. The tools we used were awesome and had been around for longer than I. We made some doors for a church up in the hills, which I am still trying to find. Walt was great to work for: patient, understanding, forgiving, honest and a real artist. Thank you, Walt. I built a beautiful home at 6060 Mina Vista. I went to Walter Lewis to make my doors and the architect are drawn standard doors. Walt sad do you really like these? I said I hadn´t thought about it. he said what doors do you like ?
I went out to the car I had my book at the Mexican House Old and New in the seat!. I Was building Spanish colonial revival home. Walt made the most wonderful doors for me.I chose the wheat design and closets were plank that I have seen in Murphy´s homes in the foothills. At home was 5200 ft.² it hand built by artisans like Walt. I´m proud of it to this day, Norma Slone
