My family and I met "dottore Fontenova" shortly after arriving in Tucson from Italy in 1955. (I was 8 years old then) We needed a doctor who not only spoke Italian, but who also could be a friend. (that's the way it is in the old country). Harry Fontenova and our family developed a friendship that would span a lifetime. My dad Enrico, passed away 11 years ago, but in this time as I would see Harry, he would always ask about my mother Augusta. "Come va tua Mamma?", he would ask? What a wonderful man. I will miss him. Our heartfelt condolences to his family.

My family first met Dr Fontenova in 1960, recomended by a friend. He was truly a family doctor tending to our entire family for many years. Over the years he became a friend to us, and we even retired in the same location.(white Mountains). My prayers are with his family.

My father seldom called him Harry. He called him "Onorato," meaning honored one or worthy of respect. He will always be that to our family. How truly beautiful was the love my father had for this man. Eddie, how deeply Uncle Harry loved you and never failed to tell me of your goodness and success. His eyes always lit up when speaking of you!
Harry always let me know he was praying for my family. Now I am praying for yours.
Blessings,

Others may comment here, but I know I speak for all the members of his Skyline golf group - Harry will be deeply missed. He gave much to this community, and he was a competitor til the end.
May his family relish their memories of him.

My father also was involved with the Tucson Cowboys, (Bob Vuke) I was very young then but as I grew up I recall hearing the names of Fontenova and Duncan Goodell who I believe was also involved in starting the Cowboys. My father passed away in 1996.
God bless your family at this time and may you have peace in your memories.

Dear Pauline, Margaret Mary, Thea and Eddie...a dear friend in Tucson, who knows of my love for Doc and Ellen, alerted me to Dr. Fontenova's obituary. I'm extremely saddened at his passing but I'm very happy I got to see him over Christmas. We talked of you all and happy memories of Ellen, Nona, Pop and my parents. We also talked of my being named for Ellen and the safe delivery Dr. F. provided for me into the world. I had such a lovely visit with him and I certainly will miss him. Pauline, I know you hadn't been feeling well, and I hope you're better. All of my thoughts are with you and I will be with you in spirit on Wednesday. All my love to a very special family. My family knew Dr. Fontenova well. My Father had Frontier Village Drug at
Alvernon and Pima. He sold the store in 1960 and retired. I moved from Tucson in 1967. Dr. Fontenova alway highly thought of by our family.
