I worked with Lisa at the library for many years. When I needed to explain who she was I always said she was the librarian with the beautiful musical voice. And the great sense of humor. I will miss her.

Mark, I knew Lisa for about 7 years. We worked at Gorgas Library together for all of them. She was professional, but she could also be hilarious. I also have a brother who died, and we shared that bond and talked about it at times. She even gave me a hand-blown cobalt glass vase that I believe was her brother's. I'm from Butler, AL, so we knew some mutual people "from across the river" (Tombigbee). She made me laugh out loud many times. I moved back to Butler about 2 1/2 years ago, and I wasn't able to get back to see her. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss.

I'm so sorry to hear that Lisa has passed. She was a lovely person and so supportive of me when I worked at Gorgas. She championed me during my time in library school and cheered me on as I moved away to my new job. I am honored and blessed to have known her, and I thank you for sharing her with us.

To Lisa's Family;
I was so saddened to hear of your loss. Lisa and I had many great times in Linden. She was even a bridesmaid in my wedding! May your memories of her comfort you during this time.

Mark, Bennett & Alexandria:
I was deeply saddened when I learned we had lost Lisa. She is one of my Kappa Chi (Phi Mu) sorority sisters, and I am grateful that we were able to reconnect recently. As you know Lisa was a lovely, spirited woman and her zest for life was infectious. Even though I am many miles away, I wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers for you and her loved ones, are with all of you. With affection and deep sympathy, I pray that G_d comfort you during this time of loss.

Mark,
Please accept my sincere regrets in the loss of your precious Lisa. She is truly in a better place and we can only strive to join her one day. Our days were made happier by having her with us for a short time. (Mechanical Engineering)

Mark,
Lisa was a most precious person in the short time that I knew her. Her smile always made me feel good when I knew she didn't. Mark, my prayers are with you right now. Love you, Linda Newman, Housekeeper at U of A.

As is often the case, there were days when I entered Gorgas Library dreading work, but when I'd see Lisa's bright, smiling face, things would seem a little better. I'll miss running into her and chatting.

I am saddened to learn of Lisa's death. I attended high school with her at Marengo Academy in Linden. Lisa was a few years ahead of me but I remember her fondly. I came to know her mother, Bette Kirkham, when I returned to Linden following graduation from college. They were a amazing family. My condolences to you and Lisa's step-children.

Lisa was a wonderful mother to Bennett
and Alexandra. When I visited in New York and Alabama, she welcomed me graciously. She was kind to my mother
(Bennett & Alex's maternal grandmother)
which I appreciated more than her
kindness to me. I am so sorry that
she is now gone. Please accept my
deepest sympathy.

To Lisa's family - I offer my deepest sympathy, please know that my heart aches for you. We have lost a truly wonderful person. I have shared sadness and laughter with Lisa during my years at the Library School on the 5th floor of Gorgas Library. The last time that I visited campus, I talked to Lisa. She was indeed special and that warm smile will be missed by so many. Hold on to your memories, they will bring you comfort.

Dear Mark, you don't know me, but I will cherish the memories that I have of Lisa! She was such an honest, expressive, sincere person. She never failed to care about me, my business, as well as everyone elses! Her smile could turn a lousy day around and her wit dragged out the reluctant smile. I never knew she remarried, but I am happy she had family there for her suffering. I hope happy memories bring you comfort.

Lisa was one of the most unique people I've ever known. I was in awe of her as a sorority sister and admired her tremendously - her talent, her personality, her beauty. I was glad to re-connect with her in the last couple of years through our Phi Mu reunions. I'm so sorry she has left us; she was a bright spot in the world.
