Roderick Eiland Obituary

MARION Roderick Neal Eiland, age 65, of Marion, died Sept. 26, 2010, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel with the Reverend Brian Consley officiating. Burial will follow in Waycross Bible Methodist Church Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

Mr. Eiland was born Jan. 6, 1945, in Mobile to the late Roderick Ledger and Ann Clark Eiland. He was retired from the U.S. Army and was a tractor-trailer driver. He was a graduate of Perry County High School and Marion Military Institute Junior College and received a B.S. from Auburn University and an M.A. from Troy University. He was a lifelong resident of Perry County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roderick Ledger and Ann Clark Eiland, and Jean Tucker Eiland and Shirley Coleman Eiland.

Survivors include his daughter, Krystal Torrance Eiland Vaith (Chad) of Clanton; his sons, Keith Neal Eiland (Ally Martin) of Sprott, William Chad Coleman (Angela) of LaGrange, Ga., and Kam Robert Eiland (Kyla) of Thorsby; his grandchildren, Frankie Jean Eiland of Sprott, Brody Neal Eiland of Sprott, Suzannah Martin Eiland of Sprott, Marynne Vaith of Clanton, Olyvia Vaith of Clanton, and Bailey Eiland of Thorsby; and his brothers, Robert Wallace Eiland of Marion, William Underwood Eiland of Athens, Ga., and Lee Clark Eiland of Marion.

Pallbearers will be Corin Harrison, Jr., John Anderson, Lester Brewer, Luther Woodfin, Robert Holladay, Charles Montz, Mike Kynard, and Brett Harrison.
