Danny Flora Obituary

TUSCALOOSA Danny Lee Flora, age 53, of Tuscaloosa, died Aug. 8, 2011, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Rev. Finley Patton of Birmingham officiating and Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He is survived by his parents, Cliff and Doris Flora of Tuscaloosa; one sister, Sherry Flora Hobbs (James Boyd Hobbs) of Pensacola Beach, Fla.; one nephew, Andrew Boyd Hobbs; two nieces, Shelby Anne Hobbs and Jamie Lynn Hobbs, all of Pensacola Beach, Fla.; one first cousin, James Flora of Mobile; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Lillie Mae Flora of Tuscaloosa and Johnie and Lucy Ann Pugh of Bay Minette.

A 1976 graduate of Tuscaloosa High School, he was co-owner with his father of Flora Sign Co. He grew up in Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he was a longtime member.

Danny was an avid hunter and fisherman. He liked nothing better than going on hunting trips with his friends or spending a day in the woods or on the water, either deep sea fishing in the Gulf or on the river. He was a bowling enthusiast and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Tuscaloosa.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Marshall, Steve Hannah, Jim Hobbs, Drew Hobbs, James Drew, and Albert Stinson.

Honorary pallbearers include employees of Flora Sign Co., members of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Joy and Mike Ryan, Owen Skinner, Walter Wayne Guy, Dr. Arturo Otero, members of Cooks Bend Hunting Club, Jack Marshall and all KFC family in Tuscaloosa, Trish Hannah and all bowling friends and Leland Lanes, members of the Moose Lodge 804, residents of the Brush Creek area in Greene County, employees and caregivers of Hospice of West Alabama, and doctors, nurses, and staff at DCH Cancer Center.
