Bertie Phillips Obituary

ALICEVILLE – Bertie Mae Fason Phillips, age 88, of Aliceville, Ala., died October 15, 2016, at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Magnolia Memorial Gardens in Aliceville with Rev. Charlie Wilson officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends after the graveside service at Dogwood Chapel, 200 5th St. N. E. Aliceville.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Samuel E. ""Bill"" Fason and Billy Phillips; her parents; sister, Irene Blakney; brothers, Tommy Winston and Hubert Winston; and granddaughter, Beverly.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth King (Dan); sons, John Fason (Michelle) and Ernest Fason (Sandra); six grandchildren, Jennifer Clark (Landon), Doug Varnon (Laurie), Cheryl Hewitt (Phillip), Brad Fason (Vicky), Bill Fason (Lesli) and Misty Fason; and eight great-grandchildren, Olivia Varnon, Taylor Grace Hewitt, Payton Hewitt, Ford Hewitt, Sam Fason, Mollie Fason, Jace Ezelle and Camryn Fason.
Bertie was born July 14, 1928 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Thomas Winston and Effie Mae Wilson Winston. She was a member of Aliceville First Baptist Church, a retired employee of Huyck Felt Company and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404 or Aliceville First Baptist Church, 323 Broad Street, Aliceville, AL 35442.
