I was honored to get to know you through the stories and work of your daughter, my friend, Lori La Bey. Lori could have chosen to be defeated by Alzheimer's, but instead she took - and continues to take - the higher road as a champion for all impacted by dementia - those with the diagnosis and those who love them. It is through the efforts of people like Lori that, one day, we will look back and wonder what all the fuss was about. In the meantime, we continue to work and to pray for a cure. Rest in peace. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Words to a song I wrote that seem so appropriate it's called Eyes Of Love
Eyes Of Love

Eyes of love, open up your arms,
And hold me, never let me go.
Eyes of love open up your heart,
And let me live within your soul.

Chorus
Your heart is true this much I can see
My vision of eternity
I see you through eyes of Love

Eyes of love, fill me with your joy,
And tell me bout your every dream.
Eyes of love, give me precious time
And I will give you everything

Eyes of love, call me when your lonely,
And I'll be running there to you.
Eyes of love, tell me that you want me,
Forever, forever next to you.

Eyes of love, cry to me your tears,
And I promise I'll hear what you will say.
Eyes of love, give to me your years.
Now I am here with you today

Mom you loved us all so very well. You showed us what strength, determination and kindness can accomplish. You lived with purpose and compassion.

Thank you for teaching me so much, even through the last four years when you were in the end stages of Alzheimer's. Even through the last week of your life here on earth when you were "actively" dying.

I felt your presence and appreciated each miracle you set before me to help come to peace with your passing.

So many people came out to honor you last night.

Today I hope to feel you and Dad in the room as we formally celebrate your life during the service.

Be at peace mom and enjoy a world without pain or want. Bask in the glory of God. I know you will we be forever with me in heart and spirit guiding and protecting me as you did here on earth.

We shall meet again at the gates of heaven when God decides it's my turn to come home.

Love you always and forever
