Jeanne SANDBERG Obituary

Age 79 Of Mendota Heights Died peacefully on October 27th from complications due to Parkinson's Disease. Preceded in death by her husband, Bert. Survived by her son, Nels, daughters Leslie (Kass) and Susan, sisters JoAnn (Michael) and Nancy (Don) along with her beloved nieces and nephews spanning many generations. Carol's volunteerism included The Neighborhood House, Children's Hospital & Children's Charities. She was also President of the St. Paul Academy Parents Association. She suffered from Parkinson's for over 25 years, never complaining, just moving forward. She loved the 5th hole at Town & Country Club, sunsets at the Mucky Duck and spending time with her family and friends. Her wit and courage as she faced many challenges endeared her to all. Her love for the turn of a phrase, from the literary classics to Cole Porter and even Dr. Suess never failed to put a smile on our faces. And her chocolate chip cookies were legendary. Very special thanks to all her devoted caregivers. Memorial Service Friday 10:00 AM at Assumption Catholic Church, 51 W. 7th St., St. Paul. Visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials preferred to F.I.S.H. of Sanibel Island (1630 Periwinkle Way, Unit B Sanibel FL 33957) or Mayo Clinic Parkinson's Research Program (Mayo Clinic, Dept. of Development, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905.) Carol and Bert Sandberg are reunited in God's glory! Carol was most instrumental in teaching me the art in playing golf (as Bert was the science of golf guy!) -- the feel and sheer joy of finding the sweet spot of a club and repeating it; embracing the short game and the beauty of God's creation; generosity and love for her Town and Country Club. Her tender and witty ways in all she did are memories for a lifetime. Comfort to Nels, Leslie, and Susan, and entire extended family. What a remarkable and humble woman. Godspeed, Carol.

Dear Susie, Leslie & Nels,
My heart aches - what a great loss! I have so many fond memories of "Big C" - where shall I begin? Boating, Afton, T&C, Sanibel, Sylvandale, New Year celebrations - around the world, her infamous freezer and so much more... Most of all I will miss her wit, intelligence, strength and grace.
