Lavergne, Lynn and Basich Family, I have so many wonderful memories of Pastor Tom and Advent Lutheran. The foundation of my faith began at Advent with Pastor Tom. It was the Lord and his church (Pastor Tom & Advent) that gave my mother the strength to support her 3 children after the death of our father at a young age. May your wonderful memories and God's Peace & Love carry you through the coming days. With heartfelt sympathy, Barbara Axtell O'Neill

Dear Basich Family - So many ceremonies presided by Pastor Tom and Pastor Matthew for myself and other members of my family and of course the many lessons at Sunday school provided by Lavergne for my daughter Natasha and son, Ryan. I was confirmed, married, and had both of my children baptized at Advent. It is a wonderful church with wonderful people. I'm sorry to hear about Pastor Tom and my heartfelt sympathies are with you all.

Lavergne and family; On behalf of my mother, Sheila Wegleitner, our entire family sends condolences. Mom's strongest memory is of a man who always acted out his principles. How true. Mom is recovering from a fall right now but sends her warmest greetings. She lovingly sends best wishes.

aunt lavergne and family,
thoughts and prayers are with you all. i feel sadness for our loss here on earth but know in my heart that uncle tommy is at peace, uniting with family in heaven. i can hear the words so clearly from my mom (caroline), with so much love in her heart, telling stories of her wonderful childhood. she adored her big brother tom, sisters and parents and if at times she felt troubled, she always seemed so much more at peace after she would talk with him. God bless you always Uncle Tommy...we love you.
Love, Cheryl

My memories of Pastor Basich are from Camp Luther Dell in the late 60's and early 70's. He was SO awesome!! My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I remember working as a lifeguard @ Luther Dell with Lynn the summer of 1972 for four weeks & getting to know the whole family thru her. Jeanie (Berglund) McCabe

Dear Basich family,
We were so sorry to hear of Tom's death. He was one of those pastors to whom I always looked up and so appreciated him preaching at my ordination. I loved working at Advent with Tom and learned so much about church, leadership and life from him. But it was not just him, it was all of you that we came to love and appreciate. You all became part of our family and I still run into people all the time who have been touched by your ministries. Not only that, but Tom's leadership, and with Lynn's help, LCMC now has a pension and major medical that rivals any of them out there for pastors. You guys lead the way, and I was so grateful for your efforts, years later when it was my turn to stand on the authority of God's word. May the Lord bless you all in this time of grief--and yet rejoicing knowing that we will see each other again some day when we stand together in eternity--because of Jesus Christ, Tom's Lord and ours!

Dear Basich Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I have precious photos of Pastor Basich baptizing me in 1954 at Lake Johanna Elementary School (while Advent was being built). While I did not grow up at Advent Lutheran, Pastor Basich was an important aspect of my life...the beginning of my Christian life through baptism. Interestingly, the pastor whom I did grow up with passed away this past week also, so heaven welcomed two wonderful servants of God this week. Peace to you and your whole family. Lavergne, Matt, Lynn and Anne,
Tom's fellow musicians in the Roseville Strings are very sorry to hear of his passing. We will never forget his (and your) generosity in giving our little group our first home and helping us get started. Now Tom is at peace. I think of the words of a Bob Dylan song, "Lay down your weary tune, lay down; lay down the song you strum, and rest yourself in the strength of strings no voice can hope to hum."

Dear Basich Family,

Chaska and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

How we loved Pastor Tom. He was a man of integrity; firm, unwavering, solid, orthodox, passionate; yet kind, gentle and loving. We will miss him dearly.

I well remember when Pastors Tom and Matt arranged for me to audition a violin I was considering to purchase. They patiently listened in the beautiful Advent sanctuary as I played the new violin against two others. In the end, Pastor Tom said, "If you don't buy that violin, I will. I don't know where I'll get the money, but I'll do it!" That did it. Thanks to his thoughtful encouragement, not a day goes by when I pick up that beautiful instrument that I don't think of beloved Pastor Tom. He will always be an inspiration and example.

Uncle Tommy, you were such a great person and I always enjoyed our talks whenever we would get together. I loved talking to you about music and learning the history of our family, and hearing about what life was like when you were a kid. You were a very special person to so many people, and I'm thankful to have known you as long as I did.

Love Always,
Tyfani

Dear Basich family,

I thank the LORD for the foundation of faith in Christ that Pastor Tom laid in my life. He is one of my heroes for his uncompromising stand for truth despite whatever opposition he encountered and his faithfulness to the LORD. He is one who it can truly be said "He fought the good fight,he finished the race, he kept the faith. Now there is stored up for him the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to him on this day." The LORD bless you and comfort you during this time.
