I was just recently saddened to hear of Howard's passing. Though I had not seen him in almost 50 years he impressed me as the strong, quiet type, always with a gentle smile. I seem to remember at least one tattoo on his forearm and being a young boy, didn't think much of it at the time. Now that I see where this man served during WWII I am amazed. What he must have seen during his extended tour of duty. How I would loved to talk with him about it. For some reason, like so many, I expect he was the type to not say much. I only hope that somehow, in some way during his life, he was recognized and honored for such service to our country. My guess is he would see his reward as his long life with his large and wonderful family. For them, I hope most of the sharp sorrow of his loss has been displaced by soft, fond memories that will live forever. Rest in peace Howard.

Sending our deepest condolences to the Swintek family, and all those who are lucky enough to know Howard. A true American hero who served his country above and beyond the call of duty, and a fine upstanding citizen who along with his dear wife Florence raised their wonderful children while living the dream. We remember him with a sweet smile and a calm heart. Thank you for sharing your friendship and goodness with all of us Howard.

butch, always tough to lose a loved one, especially a parent. the good side to all of this is that he was with you for a long time. it makes me think of my mom and dad and how much I miss them.
