Lloyd William BERGQUIST

Age 94, sailed peacefully across the finish line on May 11, 2013. Survived by beloved wife of almost 71 years, Muriel J. Bergquist; three children, Gay Parker, Brad Bergquist, Georgie (Marcus) Hilker; five grandchildren, Tripp Parker, Bluanne (Rich) Hamilton, Dan (Danielle) Bergquist, Matthew (Laura) Hilker and Taylor (fiancée Sam Starkman) Hilker; four great-grandchildren, Hudson, Aubreyona, Cambria and Acaicia. He was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Nettie Bergquist, step-mother Helen Bergquist, brother Kenneth, sister Marcella (Joe) Bauer and grandson, Jed Bergquist. fter marrying Muriel, Lloyd served 3 years in the U.S. Army Air Force, 48th Fighter Squadron, 15th Air Force Div. Upon his return, Lloyd and Muriel settled in St. Paul and took on the challenge of raising 3 busy kids. While Lloyd's career at Brown & Bigelow, and efforts to perfect his golf swing, kept his attention for many years, his real passion discovered later in life was sailing. As founding members of the Black Bear Yacht Racing Association (BBYRA), Lloyd and Muriel spent many summers entertaining family and friends on their beloved Ol' Yeller. A fierce competitor always, Lloyd kept a steady hand on the tiller until the very end. He was loved by all and will be missed. A Celebration of Life will take place on what would have been their 71st anniversary, June 12th, at 4PM at SWANSON'S CHAPEL, BOUTWELL'S LANDING, 5600 Norwich Pkwy., Oak Park Heights,MN.
