Annalee Whittle Obituary

MANCHESTER - Annalee Whittle, 77, died at home on Aug. 20, 2011.

She was born Sept. 15, 1933, in Fall River, Mass., to Rudolph and Neima (Lepisto) Johnson. She moved with her parents and brothers to Louisville, Ky., in 1941.

She graduated from Atherton High School in Louisville in 1951, attended the University of Louisville, and worked at Reynolds Metal Company. In 1956 she married Joseph M. Whittle of Brownsville, Ky., with whom she had six children.

Following a divorce in 1970, she moved with her children from Leitchfield, Ky., to Manchester, and raised them through much adversity but always with smiles and love. Her strong spirit and encouragement was a great inspiration to her children, and she was incredibly proud of them.

She retired from New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority earlier this year. She had worked there for many years and had many good friends there. She was a member of St. Catherine's Parish.

She enjoyed playing bingo and had great friends from that hobby.

She is loved and missed by her six children and their spouses and partner, Patrick Whittle and Andrea Zizzi of Falls Church, Va.; Kim Whittle and Bob Glover of Seattle, Wash.; Dennis Whittle and Mari Kuraishi of Washington, D.C.; Daniel Whittle and Jane Harwell of Carrboro, N.C.; Barry and Elke Whittle of Guatemala City, Guatemala; and Stacy Whittle of Washington, D.C.; her mother, Neima Linnea Johnson (age 102), of Manchester; her brother, Lawrence Mathias Johnson of Manchester; and her nine grandchildren, Maria, Madeline, Susannah, Anna, Zoe, Sam, Tamer, Emile, and Calvin.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Rudolph Henning Johnson Jr., and her father, Rudolph Henning Johnson.

.

For my friend Lee; We met in Manchester in 1970 and enjoyed a joyous friendship for those 13 years, We continued our friendship from a distance, when my family moved to Florida. Lee and I worked on the March of Dimes, Mothers March for Manchester together. We shared many cups of tea (me) and coffee (Lee) while our children gathered around us. I have 9 and Lee the fabulous 6. So many memories. Lee, you gave up the red lipstick for pink for me when you stood with me when Don and I married. Your sweet Mom played the organ for the ceremony. Here I sit with my memories and a birthday card to my special friend that will not be received. But I know I have someone in heaven to pray for me and also someone I can pray too. I love you Lee, it was a gift to have you in my life.
