Beth Ann Salzman

BEDFORD - Beth Ann Salzman, of Bedford and University Park, Fla., died the evening of Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, surrounded by her family at her home in Bedford.

Born Beth Ann Jacobsen in New Haven, Conn. on April 3, 1940, to Louis and Florence Jacobsen. Beth Ann attended Hamden Hall and Smith College. In 1962 she married David B. Salzman. In the ‘60's and ‘70's, Beth Ann helped run her parents' retail store in New Haven. In 1977, she and David moved to Bedford, and in 1978 Beth Ann became the head of the Manchester Jewish Community School. Her time in the "Jewish Business," as she put it, was just part of her lifelong love and focus on education. In the ‘80's Beth Ann embarked on a third career when she founded Gotkeys Unlimited - a company making custom printed boxer shorts and T-shirts. Had you asked her, she'd tell you that making silly boxer shorts was the funniest job, but being an educator was the most rewarding. Since the late ‘90's, Beth Ann and David made their winter home in Sarasota, Fla. In Sarasota Beth Ann pursued that love for education, leading adult education classes at Pierian Spring Academy and serving as a docent at the Ringling Museum.

Beth Ann is survived by her daughter Lori Salzman of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; and her son Randy Salzman and grandchildren Sydney and Jake Salzman of San Carlos, Calif.

services: A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 12:30 p.m. at Temple Adath Yeshurun, 152 Prospect St., Manchester. A memorial service will also be scheduled in Sarasota, Fla., in November.
