Henry Lieshout Obituary

Henry Joseph
van Lieshout
VERONA
Henry Joseph van Lieshout, 93, Happy Valley Road, passed away suddenly to be with his Lord, on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Born Henricus Josefus van Lieshout, in Veghel, the Netherlands, on April 2, 1921, he was the son of Johannes and Anne Maria (Gloudemans) van Lieshout. Educated in the Netherlands and surviving World War II, Henry married Johanna Krol on January 28, 1954, and they immigrated to the United States on February 5, 1954, arriving by boat in Hoboken, New Jersey. After managing and renting farms in the Baltimore, Maryland, area for the next fourteen years, Henry and Johanna moved their family in 1968 to Verona to own and operate Brabant Farm, which their family still operates today. Henrys priorities were God, family, and farming. He was a communicant of both St. Francis Catholic Church, Durhamville, and St. Marys of the Ridge Catholic Church, Higginsville, where he actively served as cantor, organist, and on the property committees. Henry was active with the Oneida County Farm Bureau, the Farm Bureau Kitchen Konference, Oneida County Holstein Club, and Dairylea Cooperative, serving as President or in other leadership roles in all organizations. He also led a 4-H agricultural club for many years. His lifelong love of God and of working with Holstein Dairy Cattle is carried on by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Additionally, Henry loved to invent, convert, and restore objects for usefulness. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Louise and Steven Durfee of Chittenango; his six sons and their wives, John and Mary van Lieshout of Lee Center, Philip and Jody van Lieshout of Rome, and Joseph and Rebecca van Lieshout, Paul and Cheri van Lieshout, Stephen and Cynthia van Lieshout, and Patrick and Lory van Lieshout, all of Verona; thirty-two grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; four brothers-in-law in the Netherlands, Martien and his wife, Leentje Krol, Frans and his wife, Marietje Krol, the Reverend Father Antonius Krol SVD, and Wim Koemans; sisters-in-law, Jeanne van Lieshout of the Netherlands, Anna Krol of Ontario, Canada, and Jane Krol of Alberta, Canada; and brother-in-law, Leon van Lieshout of Livonia, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. Henry was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Johanna, on September 6, 2014. He was also predeceased by his parents, three brothers, and five sisters. Funeral services will be held 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St, Oneida, and 10:30 a.m. from St. Francis Church in Durhamville, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Joseph Kehoe, Pastor.
