Carl T. "Fireball" Roberts 1935 - 2016
FULTON - Carl Thomas "Fireball" Roberts, 81, of Fulton, (Granby) passed away on September 10, 2016.
Born August 25, 1935, in Steuben, NY, he was a graduate of Holland Patent School, and an army veteran. He was a heavy equipment operator for Local 158, District 545, Cicero. He was a member of the American Legion, E. Syracuse. "Fireball" was inducted into the Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 40 years, Maureen (Woods) Roberts; a son, Carl T. Roberts; two stepsons, William and Timothy Timmons; two daughters, Alice Lavien and Sherry Ellis; his brother, George Roberts, Remsen; and several grand and great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are Friday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a noon funeral service with Deacon Frank Forish officiating, all in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY.

Moe sorry for your loss and ours Carl was a good man I am proud to call my friend we did alot of wheeling and dealing over the years I would stop over during hunting season to warm up and chat in the winter when the snowplow would pile the wet heavy stuff at the end of my driveway he would come plow it for me he would bring me tiny bullhead from the pond to put in my pond I sure am going to miss him may he rip till we meet again at the happy hunting grounds above

moe so sorry for your loss and and our loss he was a great friend and helped me a lot we would wheel and deal he would bring me tiny bullhead from the pond I would stop over during hunting season to warm up and chat during the winter he would plow the end of my driveway where the plow would pile the wet heavy stuff I am sure gonna miss him and our times together I will never forget rip my friend till we meet again

I never new Carl personally, but he struck me out more than once. When he got 2 strikes on you he would shout "sit down" on the next pitch. Usually you did. A great pitcher and sounds like a nice guy. Wonderful memories. Rest in peace "Fireball"
