Alice C. Tilbe
Waterville
Alice C. Tilbe, 88, of Tower Street, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Harding Nursing Home. She was born on September 20, 1924 in Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late John and Gertie Wood Foley. Alice married the love of her life, Leon H. Tilbe, in Bridgewater on April 4, 1942. Their loving union lasted over 61 years until Leons passing in 2003. Alice had worked at the Waterville Knitting Mill, but more so loved being a home maker, and raising her loving children and enjoying spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and word search puzzles. Surviving are her sons, Charles Tilbe, of Waterville, Leon, Jr., (Janet) Tilbe, of Bridgewater, Robert Tilbe, of Plainfield and James (Diane), of Brookfield; her brother, Earl Red (Susan) Foley, of Waterville; a brother-in-law, Charles Gambeitta, of Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by a son, David Tilbe; a daughter, Laverne Simmons; a son-in-law, Leonard Simmons; a daughter-in-law, Linda Tilbe; a sister, Marguerite Gambeitta; and her brothers, Thomas Foley, Richard Foley and Robert Wood. In keeping with Alices wishes, the funeral service is private, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Bridgewater. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield In memory of Alice, kindly consider donations to the Harding Nursing Home Residents Fund, 220 Tower Street, Waterville, New York 13480.
