Donald Lawless Obituary

Dr. Donald S. Lawless
Waterville
Dr. Donald S. Lawless, 93, a resident of Harding Nursing Home in Waterville, formerly of Oriskany Falls, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012, at the home. Donald was born on December 1, 1918, in Vernon, NY, the son of James and Anna (McDermott) Lawless. He was raised and educated locally and went on to earn Doctorates in English and Shakespearian History. Donald became a college professor and taught overseas in Iran and England, as well as in the United States. He also published books on Shakespeare at Syracuse University. Donald served his country with the US Army during World War II. He was of the Catholic faith. Donald was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Crumb, Theresa Davis and Alice Law, and two brothers, James Lawless and Leo Lawless. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Lawless' funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Clinton, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Those wishing may donate to the "Make a Wish Foundation" in Donald's memory. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton.
