Helen C. Supinski
Waterville
Helen C. Supinski, 92, of Waterville, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012, at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville. She was born on December 15, 1919, in Sangerfield, a daughter of Edward and Emily Waterman Carey. She attended Waterville schools, graduating in 1937. She married Walter E. Supinski in July 1937. He died in August 1982. Helen graduated from Utica College in 1966, and subsequently from Syracuse University with a Master's Degree in Special Education. She taught in schools in Brookfield, Frankfort and Waterville, retiring in 1995. She found great passion in teaching and helping those less fortunate. Prior to her teaching career, she worked as Director of Utica Head Start and also held a position with the Association for Retarded Children in Utica. Helen is survived by her children, Anne (Steve) Jasinski, Utica, Doris (Richard) LaPera, Whitesboro, Carolinda (Ray) Davis, NC, Walter (Esther), MA, Robert (Cindy), Norwich, and Elaine, Vernon; grandchildren, Thomas (Claudia), Joseph, Theresa (Glenn), Sharon, Cynthia, Sally (Matt), Raymond, James (Kathy), Edward, Amy and Megan; great-grandchildren, Gregory, Marie, Carey, Sam, Elise, Krista, Kate, Madeline, Emma, Jake, Sophie, Charlotte, Will, Cooper, Micah and Hope; and a sister, Ruth Carey, Brookfield. Helen was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Brooks, and a son, Robert Forte. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Waterville. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to the Waterville Ambulance Corps or a charity of your choice. Helen's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Harding Nursing Home for all their care and kindness to her and her family.
