Lynn D. Browne, 71, of E. Bacon St., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, as a result of a fall at home. He was born in Utica on January 5, 1940, a son of the late Thurston and Barbara Pierson Browne. A life long Waterville resident, he graduated from Waterville High School Class of 1957. On October 10, 1969, in Waterville, he was united in marriage to the former Althea E. Wilkinson. Lynn was the owner/operator of the Waterville Express trucking business for over 40 years, until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of St. Bernards Church, where as a young boy, he was an altar server. He was a Life Member of the Waterville Vol. Fire Dept. and a member of the Waterville Fish & Game Club and the Mt. Hunger Club, Waterville. He enjoyed watching NASCAR Racing, Syracuse University Basketball and was a Red Sox baseball fan. He loved animals and had fed and cared for many strays in the area. Lynn was a loving and compassionate husband and enjoyed family. Surviving are his wife, Althea; his children, Gail Haught, of West Winfield, Bonnie Zweifel, of New Hartford, and Barbara Zweifel, of Waterville; a sister, Audrey Mizener, of Waterville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Erwin Browne, of Waterville, and Charles and Sharon Browne, of Madeira Beach, FL; his grandchildren, Melissa and Matthew King, of Bridgewater, Michael and Michelle Bishop, of Ilion, Noah Zweifel, of New Hartford, and Brooke LaSalle and Gary LaSalle, both of Utica; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at 10 a.m. from St. Bernard's Church, Waterville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Bridgewater. Friends are invited and may call Tuesday, September 20, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville. The Waterville Volunteer Fire Dept. will meet at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in Lynns memory may be made to WAVAC (Waterville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc.), 7769 State Route 20, Waterville, NY 13480.
