Maurice G. Spooner, Jr., 85, of Sharman Road, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at the Harding Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness. He was born on November 8, 1927, in Madison, the son of the late Maurice G., Sr., and Nellie Miller Spooner. He attended Oriskany Falls High School. On July 3, 1948, in Clinton, he married Veronica Zombek. Maurice had worked in the maintenance department at Broad Acres, later retiring from St. Lukes Nursing Home. He had previously been a milkman for Olivers Dairy and Peters Dairy. Maurice loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing, as well as time spent with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Veronica; his children and their spouses, Terrence and Christine Spooner, of Oriskany Falls, Larry and Terry Ann Spooner, of Madison, and Laurie and Eric Larsen, of Poughkeepsie; 8 beloved grandchildren; 7 beloved great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Maurice was predeceased by a sister, Geraldine Spooner, and brothers, Karl Spooner and Don Barrows. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at the Paul FuneralHome of Madison, with the Rev. Raymond Lighthall, Pastor of the Madison United Church, officiating. Interment will be in Madison Cemetery. In keeping with Maurices wishes, there are no calling hours. In memory of Maurice, and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Oriskany Falls Fire Department Ambulance or the Waterville Area Ambulance Fund.
