Sandra Elliott Obituary

Sandra L. Elliott
Brookfield
Sandra L. Elliott, 70, a life resident of Brookfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 27, 2013, while her loving husband and children were at her side, following a lengthy illness. She was born in New Berlin on September 22, 1942, the daughter of the late William and Helen Smith Corey. Sandy was a graduate of Brookfield High School. On November 23, 1965, in Providence, Rhode Island, she married Garth (Gary) Elliott. Along with her husband, Sandy had been the owner of Bridgewater Bowling Lanes. She had also worked at the Brookfield General Store and spent many years working at the Gates Dale Dairy Bar in Bridgewater, where she earned the nickname and known along the east coast as "Flo". Sandy had a passion for golfing and bowling because the sports challenged her. She was also a devoted "sports mom", which continued even after her children graduated; she still continued to support Brookfield High School Sports. Sandy was a member of the Brookfield Fire Department Firemen's Auxiliary; the Brookfield Johnson and Rogers American Legion Post 1492, where she was a member for over 40 years; the Waterville Bowling Association; and a member of the Brookfield First Baptist Church. Sandy was also a member of the Lakeland Park Association at her winter home in Florida. Surviving are her loving husband of 47 years, Garth; one daughter and son-in-law, Cara and Walter Goedeker, of Oriskany Falls; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rob and Shelly Elliott, of Hillsborough, NJ, and Eric and Hiroko Elliott, of Panama City Beach, FL; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Sandy Corey, of Warsaw; and four beloved grandchildren, Derek, Sam, Ben and Sophie. She was predeceased by her sister, Donna Dougherty. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Brookfield with the Rev. Mark Thall, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Brookfield Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday at the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home located on Church Street. In memory of Sandy, kindly remember donations to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.

on behalf of Hospice Care Services I would like to state what an amazing family, friends and community that provided care and fostered sandy through this difficult eternal passage. In my 20 years of being a Hospice Nurse I can honestly say I have never seen such a dedicated township come together and provide such incredible emotional support, guidance and personal care to a loved one. Brookfield our hats off to you! On behalf of myself and family what an amazing, dynamic, hysterical and deserving women to have so many compassionate people reach out and want to help in anyway they can to return what she had gifted to them. The gift of laughter and love. She will forever be missed. Sandy's memories will forever live on in each and everyone of us who's life she has touched and blessed in so many ways.

No matter what happen in your life, you would look at Sandy and she made you laugh. I am sorry for your loss. She loved Gary and her children with all her heart. There was never a dull moment in Gary's life. Now the Angels in Heaven will be smiling from ear to ear.

Your wife and mother was one of a kind. She had a heart of gold and a spirit that was full of life and light. She touched so many lives. Gary Kids, Sandy and Bill..my thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Sandy had a way to make you feel welcome at any 'doings' even if you had been away for a while. She was a great teacher of just plain harmless fun. I remember when Bill and Sandy got married. Sandy encouraged 'fun' tricks to welcome the newlyweds home.....saran wrap on the toilet, short sheeting the bed etc. Also, thinking of the time when you lived on the corner and she got us to rake the leaves to the side of the road and told us we could light them for Halloween! That's one way to get the lawn done!
May memories help you thru these difficult times.
